On the Time to Buffer Overflow in a Queueing Model with a General Independent Input Stream and Power-Saving Mechanism Based on Working Vacations [PDF]
A single server GI/M/1 queue with a limited buffer and an energy-saving mechanism based on a single working vacation policy is analyzed. The general independent input stream and exponential service times are considered.

Data-driven queueing modelling: a simulation case study of emergency department crowding [PDF]
Objectives Emergency department crowding refers to a complex state of congestion associated with a set of performance indicators such as occupation levels, waiting times and specific scores.

Departure Process of Actively Managed Queue with Dependent Job Sizes [PDF]
We focus on a queueing model in which the sizes of arriving jobs are stochastically dependent and each job may be denied service with a probability determined by the queue size (active management).

A Hybrid Secure Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks against Timing Attacks Using Continuous-Time Markov Chain and Queueing Model [PDF]
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have recently gained popularity for a wide spectrum of applications. Monitoring tasks can be performed in various environments. This may be beneficial in many scenarios, but it certainly exhibits new challenges in terms of

Several studies have been conducted on scaling limits for Markov-modulated infinite-server queues. To the best of our knowledge, most of these studies adopt an approach to prove the convergence of the moment-generating function (or characteristic ...

Analysis of MAP/PH/1 Queueing System with Degrading Service Rate and Phase Type Vacation
Degradation of services arises in practice due to a variety of reasons including wear-and-tear of machinery and fatigue. In this paper, we look at MAP/PH/1-type queueing models in which degradation is introduced.

A MODEL FOR QUANTUM QUEUE [PDF]
We consider an extension of discrete time Markov chain queueing model to the quantum domain by use of discrete time quantum Markov chain. We introduce methods for numerical analysis of such models. Using these tools we show that quantum model behaves fundamentally different from the classical one.

Shot-noise queueing models [PDF]
AbstractWe provide a survey of so-called shot-noise queues: queueing models with the special feature that the server speed is proportional to the amount of work it faces. Several results are derived for the workload in anM/G/1 shot-noise queue and some of its variants.

Queueing Analysis of a Jockeying Model [PDF]
In this paper, we solve a type of shortest queue problem, which is related to multibeam satellite systems. We assume that the packet interarrival times are independently distributed according to an arbitrary distribution function, that the service times are Markovian with possibly different service rates, that each server has its own buffer for packet

On the Transient Queue with the Dropping Function
We deal with a queueing system, in which arriving packets are being dropped with the probability depending on the queue size. Such a scheme is used in several active queue management schemes proposed for Internet routers.
