Critical behavior of the exclusive queueing process

open access: yes, 2013
The exclusive queueing process (EQP) is a generalization of the classical M/M/1 queue. It is equivalent to a totally asymmetric exclusion process (TASEP) of varying length. Here we consider two discrete-time versions of the EQP with parallel and backward-

Stochastic inequalities for single-server loss queueing systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The present paper provides some new stochastic inequalities for the characteristics of the $M/GI/1/n$ and $GI/M/1/n$ loss queueing systems. These stochastic inequalities are based on substantially deepen up- and down-crossings analysis, and they are ...

Faster and Durable: A Cell‐to‐System Validation of a Low‐Degradation Fast‐Charge Protocol for Li‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A physics‐based framework resolving graphite phase‐separation dynamics establishes a predictive, degradation‐aware fast‐charging methodology for commercial Li‐ion batteries. The resulting model‐informed protocol achieves 20%–80% state‐of‐charge in 14 min while matching the long‐term degradation of a commercial 25‐minute EV strategy.

Waiting Time in a General Active Queue Management Scheme

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
We derive the waiting time in a queueing scheme, in which an arriving job can be denied service with probability relative to the queue size. Such scheme is a generalization of the tail-drop queue, in which the job is denied service when the buffer ...

Is Youth's Engagement in Agribusiness an Opportunity or a Necessity? A Closer Look at the Situation in South Kivu, Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite the broad focus on necessity‐ and opportunity‐driven entrepreneurship in research and policy, the entrepreneurial dichotomy within the agribusiness context has not been adequately addressed. This study contributes to closing this knowledge gap by examining youth's perceptions of agribusiness through the lens of the push‐pull motivation

A Time-Non-Homogeneous Double-Ended Queue with Failures and Repairs and Its Continuous Approximation

open access: yesMathematics, 2018
We consider a time-non-homogeneous double-ended queue subject to catastrophes and repairs. The catastrophes occur according to a non-homogeneous Poisson process and lead the system into a state of failure. Instantaneously, the system is put under repair,

Queues as Processes

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 1998
AbstractRewrite systems have successfully been used for the description of infinite-state systems. According to the interpretation of words as either sequences or multisets rewrite systems may describe classes of transition systems like e.g. BPA, PDA, BPP or Petri Nets.

Exploring Quantum Support Vector Regression for Predicting Hydrogen Storage Capacity of Nanoporous Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
In this study we employed support vector regressor and quantum support vector regressor to predict the hydrogen storage capacity of metal–organic frameworks using structural and physicochemical descriptors. This study presents a comparative analysis of classical support vector regression (SVR) and quantum support vector regression (QSVR) in predicting ...

Continuous-Service M/M/1 Queuing Systems

open access: yesApplied System Innovation, 2019
In this paper, we look into a novel notion of the standard M/M/1 queueing system. In our study, we assume that there is a single server and that there are two types of customers: real and imaginary customers. Real customers are regular customers arriving

The Necessity of Dynamic Workflow Managers for Advancing Self‐Driving Labs and Optimizers

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We assess the maturity and integration readiness of key methodologies for Materials Acceleration Platforms, highlighting the need for dynamic workflow managers. Demonstrating this, we integrate PerQueue into a color‐mixing robot, showing how flexible orchestration improves coordination and optimization.
