Culture, power and practice: Critical discourse analysis of workplace‐based assessments in hierarchical postgraduate medical education

open access: yesMedical Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Workplace‐based assessments (WPBAs) are widely promoted as formative tools to promote learning in postgraduate medical education. However, their meaning and effectiveness are deeply influenced by sociocultural and institutional contexts, particularly hierarchy and power relations.

Why Do Voters Vote for ‘the Other Side’? Instrumental and Expressive Motives for Cross‐Ethnolinguistic Voting in Brussels

open access: yesNations and Nationalism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While electoral support in deeply divided societies is expected to follow segmental lines, parties often attract substantial backing from outside their core constituencies. This article examines why voters in Belgium's Brussels‐Capital Region—a consociational system designed to enable the peaceful cohabitation of the French and Dutch language ...

What Are The Drivers of Labour Productivity in Italy?

open access: yesOxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper introduces a novel sign restriction identification within a structural Bayesian vector autoregression (VAR) to analyse how labour productivity responds to supply and demand shocks and to quantify the contribution of shocks to cyclical fluctuations.

Phenotypic Differentiation Between Highland and Coastal Quinoa Under Cold Stress Conditions

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) is a genetically diverse Andean crop valued for its nutrition and adaptability to varied agro‐climatic conditions with potential for cultivation in European and Mediterranean, particularly on marginal lands. Low temperatures during early sowing can impair germination, while delayed sowing increases the risk ...

“I Can't Fully Explain It, but Something Just Feels Off”: A Qualitative Study of Danish Students' Bystander Perceptions of Sexual Violence Risk

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explores how Danish upper secondary students, when positioned as bystanders, evaluate risk in situations involving or potentially escalating into sexual harassment or violence. Drawing on psychological risk perception literature, we focus on the cognitive, emotional, and contextual factors that shape young bystanders' recognition ...

Donor Dilemma: A National Simulation‐Based Case Curriculum for Teaching Donor Call Decision‐Making in Infectious Diseases Trainees

open access: yesTransplant Infectious Disease, EarlyView.
An asynchronous donor‐call case‐based progressive disclosure curriculum was feasible and valued across diverse ID and TID training programs. ID and TID trainees reported improved confidence in their clinical reasoning and ability to evaluate donor‐suitability, supporting this educational approach to address a training gap.

Root trait dynamics of historical canola varieties under low and high nitrogen supply

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract Nitrogen fertilizer is a major input cost in crop production, making it crucial to enhance nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) to reduce fertilizer dependence without compromising yields. Root system architecture (RSA) is a key determinant of nutrient acquisition, particularly under nutrient‐limited conditions.

AGIcam: An open‐source Internet of Things–based camera system for automated in‐field phenotyping and yield prediction

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract Continuous, high‐frequency monitoring is essential to capture rapid phenological transitions and dynamic crop responses to the environment. However, most phenotyping platforms lack the temporal resolution and automation required for consistent, season‐long trait assessment.

MaizeEar‐SAM: Zero‐shot maize ear phenotyping

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract Quantifying the variation in yield component traits of maize (Zea mays L.), which collectively determine the overall productivity of this globally significant crop, is critical to plant genetics research, plant breeding, and the development of improved agronomic practices.

Dead Ends and Policy Change in Chinese Experimental Governance

open access: yesGovernance, Volume 39, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Not all policy change is expansive, yet non‐expansive trajectories remain underexamined. This article introduces the concept of dead ends: a stage of the policy process in which initiatives cease to develop or be implemented in their existing form, structuring subsequent policy change such as rollback, redirection, or termination.
