Effect of Injected Oxygen Amount on the Gas Porosity and Mechanical Properties of a Pore-Free Die-Cast Al–Si–Cu Alloy

open access: yesMetals, 2021
With the rise in the demand for eco-friendly and electric vehicles, welding and heat treatment are becoming very important to meet the necessary weight reduction, complexity, and high functionality of die castings.

Process Biochem.

open access: yes, 2006
Bioleaching processes of three zinc sulphides (marmatite, sphalerite and ZnS synthetically prepared) with Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and a moderately thermoacidophilic iron-oxidizing bacterium (MLY) were investigated by leaching experiments and ...

Stripping Model for Short GRBs: The Impact of Nuclear Data

open access: yesParticles, 2023
We investigate the impact of forthcoming nuclear data on the predictions of the neutron star (NS) stripping model for short gamma-ray bursts. The main area to which we pay attention is the NS crust.

Neutrinos, Fission Cycling and the r-process [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of International Symposium on Nuclear Astrophysics - Nuclei in the Cosmos - IX — PoS(NIC-IX), 2010
It has long been suggested that fission cycling may play an important role in the r-process. Fission cycling can only occur in a very neutron rich environment. In traditional calculations of the neutrino driven wind of the core-collapse supernova, the environment is not sufficiently neutron rich to produce the r-process elements.

β-delayed neutron emission of r-process nuclei at the N = 82 shell closure

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2021
Theoretical models of β-delayed neutron emission are used as crucial inputs in r-process calculations. Benchmarking the predictions of these models is a challenge due to a lack of currently available experimental data.

A new r-process star with low abundances of r-process elements

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2016
Metal-poor stars with measurable r-process element abundances provide key clues to the production site(s) of the r-process and how its products are mixed with the surrounding medium. While the number of stars exhibiting strong enhancements of r-process elements has grown over the years, the lower "floor" of r-process enrichment in metal-poor stars has ...

Recent advances in microbial capture of hydrogen sulfide from sour gas via sulfur‐oxidizing bacteria

open access: yesEngineering in Life Sciences, 2021
Biological desulfurization offers several remarkably environmental advantages of operation at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure, no demand of toxic chemicals as well as the formation of biologically re‐usable sulfur (S0), which has attracted ...

The r-Process in Black Hole Winds [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
All the current r-process scenarios relevant to core-collapse supernovae are facing severe difficulties. In particular, recent core-collapse simulations with neutrino transport show no sign of a neutron-rich wind from the proto-neutron star. In this paper, we discuss nucleosynthesis of the r-process in an alternative astrophysical site, "black hole ...
