NRASQ61R Expression in Lymphatic Endothelial Cells Causes Enlarged Vessels, Hemorrhagic Chylous Effusions, and High Mortality in a Mouse Model of Kaposiform Lymphangiomatosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is an aggressive complex lymphatic anomaly. Patients exhibit malformed lymphatic vessels and often develop hemorrhagic effusions and elevated angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2) levels. A somatic NRAS p.Q61R (NRASQ61R) mutation has been associated with KLA.

Simulating Neutron Star Mergers as r-process Sources in Ultra Faint Dwarf Galaxies

open access: yes, 2017
To explain the high observed abundances of r-process elements in local ultra- faint dwarf (UFD) galaxies, we perform cosmological zoom simulations that include r-process production from neutron star mergers (NSMs).

Shell-model half-lives for the N=82 nuclei and their implications for the r-process [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We have performed large-scale shell-model calculations of the half-lives and neutron-branching probabilties of the r-process waiting point nuclei at the magic neutron number N=82.

r-process Heating Feedback on Disk Outflows from Neutron Star Mergers

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Neutron star mergers produce r -process elements, with yields that are sensitive to the kinematic and thermodynamic properties of the ejecta. These ejecta properties are potentially affected by dynamically important feedback from r -process heating ...

Effects of Casting Conditions for Reduced Pressure Test on Melt Quality of Al-Si Alloy

open access: yesMetals, 2020
The present study investigated the effect of the casting conditions for the reduced pressure test (RPT) on the melt quality of Al-Si alloy. The casting conditions considered in RPT were the atmospheric exposure during melting, sampling method, and mold ...

Characterizing r-Process Sites through Actinide Production

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2020
Abstract Of the variations in the elemental abundance patterns of stars enhanced with r-process elements, the variation in the relative actinide-to-lanthanide ratio is among the most significant. We investigate the source of these actinide differences in order to determine whether these variations are due to natural differences in ...

r-process calculations and Galactic chemical evolution [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics A, 2006
While the origin of r-process nuclei remains a long-standing mystery, recent spectroscopic studies of extremely metal-poor stars in the Galactic halo strongly suggest that it is associated with core-collapse supernovae. In this article, an overview of the recent theoretical studies of the r-process is presented with a special emphasis on the ...

Pulmonary Dysfunction Is Associated With Sleep Study Abnormalities in Children With Sickle Cell Disease: A Multicenter Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pulmonary dysfunction and sleep abnormalities are common in children with sickle cell disease (SCD) and are associated with worse clinical outcomes. Whether spirometry abnormalities are associated with polysomnography (PSG) findings remains unclear.

Microsphere-assisted hyperspectral imaging: super-resolution, non-destructive metrology for semiconductor devices

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications
As semiconductor devices shrink and their manufacturing processes advance, accurately measuring in-cell critical dimensions (CD) becomes increasingly crucial.
