Programmable Inter‐Droplet Communication by Polymer‐Gated Ion Transport Through Nanopore Lattices

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2026.
Laser‐written polyelectrolyte barriers were applied for regulating imbibition and ion transport through silica mesopores between droplet compartments. Specific imbibition sequences and precipitation readouts indicated cation‐selective transport across the barriers. Depending on salt identity, barrier, and experimental parameters, ionic transport ranged

Deciphering the Relationship Between Alcohol Consumption, Oropharyngeal Cancers, and Socioeconomic Determinants

open access: yesAlcohol, Clinical and Experimental Research, Volume 50, Issue 8, August 2026.
Using Mendelian randomization, we show that alcohol intake frequency increases oropharyngeal cancer risk independently of socioeconomic status, while the apparent protective effect of drinking with meals is explained by higher household income. Drinks per week independently increase stomatitis risk.

Post‐Release Survival of the Pelagic Stingray (Pteroplatytrygon violacea, Bonaparte, 1832) in French Longline Fisheries in the Northwestern Mediterranean Sea

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 4, Page 719-732, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Bycatch remains a critical challenge in global fisheries, even when using selective gears such as longlines. In the French longline fishery targeting Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) in the Gulf of Lion, the common pelagic stingray (Pteroplatytrygon violacea) is the primary bycatch species.

Outer Size Evolution Pathways of Tropical Cyclones During Intensification

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 14, 28 July 2026.
Abstract This study investigates tropical cyclone (TC) outer size (R34) evolution during intensification over the western North Pacific (2001–2022). Based on R34‐decile changes as intensity increases, TCs are classified into upward‐decile, stable‐decile, and downward‐decile types.
