Effect of the "RNA control" locus in Escherichia coli on RNA bacteriophage R23 replication [PDF]
The effect of the rel gene of Escherichia coli on the RNA synthesis induced by phage R23 was studied. This RNA phage has the property of inhibiting ribosomal RNA formation and completely dominating the RNA synthesis of the host. Phage-specific RNA formation was found to be dependent on the allelic state of the rel gene.

The present work deals with thermodynamic analysis of cascade refrigeration system using ozone friendly refrigerants pair R507A and R23. R507A is azeotropic mixture composed of HFC refrigerants R125/R143a (50%/50% wt.). R23 is a single component HFC refrigerant used as replacement to CFC refrigerant R13 in low temperature applications.

Abstract 1. A cell membrane-DNA-RNA polymerase complex which contains virtually all of the RNA-synthetic capacity of the cell has been isolated from uninfected and R23-infected Escherichia coli. 2. Infection of E. coli by RNA bacteriophage R23 inhibits the RNA synthetic capacity of the membrane complex.
