Syria and the Responsibility to Protect [PDF]
The civilian protection agenda has tried to fill critical gaps in the existing normative architecture through the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) and protection of civilians (POC) as sibling norms.1 Despite these two valuable additions to the repertoire ...

Planar and Pyramidal Pentacoordinate Selenium Atoms
Planar (D5h) and pyramidal (C5v) dianionic clusters, SeM5X52− (M = LiK; X = FBr), showcase pentacoordinate selenium atoms stabilized by geometric confinement and electrostatic interactions with surrounding alkali and halogen atoms. Abstract A systematic computational exploration of the dianionic systems SeM5X52− (M = Li─Cs; X = F─I) was conducted to ...

Potential of interval partial least square regression in estimating leaf area index
Leaf area index (LAI) is a critical parameter in determining vegetation status and health. In tropical grasslands, reliable determination of LAI, useful in determining above ground biomass, provides a basis for rangeland management, conservation and ...

Cyclic Aminophosphenium Mono‐ and Dications
A new phosphenium dication [P(μ‐NTer)2P–hexyl–P(μ‐NTer)2P]2+ was synthesized and fully characterized starting from a p‐Centered biradical. Starting from the biradicaloid [·P(μ‐NTer)2P·] (Ter = 2,6‐dimesitylphenyl), the addition of ethyl bromide yields the addition product [Et–P(μ‐NTer)2P–Br].

A novel small‐angle X‐ray scattering modelling approach is introduced for the analysis of precipitation behaviour in metallic systems exhibiting scattering signals with streaks originating from the embedding matrix. This approach enables in situ tracking of the microstructural evolution, such as the volume fraction and size of second phases, during ...

Intervention or Non-intervention, the Legalities of R2P and the Human Rights Agenda
The threat of violence alongside the deep-rooted fear of falling into old patterns of animosity and violence have pushed the international community towards stringent controversial approaches regarding international conflicts. R2P initially started as a
