Primary and predicted secondary structure of the Actinomadura R39 extracellular dd-peptidase, a penicillin-binding protein (PBP) related to the Escherichia coli PBP4 [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1992
As derived from gene cloning and sequencing, the 489-amino-acid DD-peptidase/penicillin-binding protein (PBP) produced by Actinomadura R39 has a primary structure very similar to that of the Escherichia coli PBP4 [Mottl, Terpstra & Keck (1991) FEMS Microbiol. Lett. 78, 213-220]. Hydrophobic-cluster analysis of the two proteins shows that, providing

Studies on the primary structures of the exocellular d-alanyl-d-alanine peptidases of Streptomyces strain R61 and Actinomadura strain R39 [PDF]

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure, 1981
The Mr 37 000 D-alanyl-D-alanine peptidase excreted by Streptomyces R61 and the Mr 53 000 D-alanyl-D-alanine peptidase excreted by Actinomadura R39 are both characterized by a very uneven distribution of the basic (Arg + Lys) amino acid residues. Trypsin degradation of the heat-denatured enzymes generates (1) thirteen soluble peptides which contain ...

A Memristive Associative Learning Circuit for Fault‐Tolerant Multi‐Sensor Fusion in Autonomous Vehicles

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 1, January 2026.
A memristor‐based associative learning circuit is presented for real‐time, fault‐tolerant sensor fusion in autonomous systems. The circuit mimics biological learning to recognize driving scenarios even with missing or degraded sensor inputs. Its low‐power, analog architecture enables robust decision‐making across diverse conditions, offering a ...

Unusual biota and palynofacies of a Lower Devonian intermontane basin saline lake–playa mudflat ecosystem

open access: yesPapers in Palaeontology, Volume 12, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract The Strathpeffer–Struie Lower Devonian LORS (Lower Old Red Sandstone) deposits of the Northern Highlands of Scotland contain the decidedly unusual ‘foetid beds’. These are interpreted as being deposited in a highly saline sulphate lake and associated playa mudflat, which developed in an intermontane basin in the Caledonian Mountains of ...

Assessment of Predictor Importance with the Example of the Real Estate Market

open access: yesFolia Oeconomica Stetinensia, 2016
Regression methods can be used for the valuation of real estate in the comparative approach. However, one of the problems of predictive modelling is the presence of redundant or irrelevant variables in data.

Katja Herges and Elisabeth Krimmer (eds.), Contested Selves: Life Writing and German Culture

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Life Writing, 2022
In Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Die Leiden des jungen Werthers (1774), a piece of life writing constitutes one of the founding documents of modern German literature. The tragic story of the young bohemian Werther and his beloved Charlotte is partly based

Effects of donor and acceptor peptides on concomitant hydrolysis and transfer reactions catalyzed by the exocellular DD-carboxypeptidase-transpeptidase from Streptomyces R39 [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemistry, 1974
The exocellular R39 DD-carboxypeptidase-trans-peptidase catalyzes bimolecular transfer reactions concomitantly with the hydrolysis of the peptide donor. Some of the transfer reactions studied have led to the synthesis of peptide dimers identical with or very similar to those found in the completed wall peptidoglycans of bacteria.

Confronting policy myopia: Short‐term government policy and information seeking behaviors in rural Thailand

open access: yesReview of Policy Research, Volume 43, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Short‐term policy (STP) has attracted considerable attention as a form of time‐related public policy and is typically used to solve urgent problems. The objective of this study, which considers STP as policy myopia from an information science perspective, is to discuss the challenges encountered during the STP policymaking process and their ...
