Identification of the Integration/Excision Module and Regulatory Elements Involved in the Mobility of IME8, an Integrative and Mobilizable Element From Mosquitocidal Lysinibacillus sphaericus

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 5, May 2026.
Mosquitocidal genomic island IME8 carries an int‐operon essential for integration/excision and a reg‐operon activating the promoter Pint and repressing excision. Its integration target is present in L. sphaericus and beyond. IME8 and a mini‐IME8 cassette can be mobilized by a conjugative plasmid and display integrating properties into the specific ...

[51] Exocellular dd-carboxypeptidases-transpeptidases from Streptomyces [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
peer reviewedStrains R39 and R61 are soil isolates. Their designations are arbitrary. In strain R39, the cross-link between the peptide units of the wall peptidoglycan extends from the C-terminal D-alanine of one unit to the amino group at the D-center ...

Organic and Metallacages for Chemical Sensing: Progress in Water‐Compatible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, Volume 5, Issue 3, March 2026.
Supramolecular cages function as three‐dimensional receptors for selective molecular recognition and sensing, and this review outlines design principles for water‐stable architectures, key analyte‐ and medium‐dependent challenges, recent water‐compatible examples (including polymer‐integrated systems), and future opportunities for cage‐based ...

Effects of donor and acceptor peptides on concomitant hydrolysis and transfer reactions catalyzed by the exocellular DD-carboxypeptidase-transpeptidase from Streptomyces R39 [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemistry, 1974
The exocellular R39 DD-carboxypeptidase-trans-peptidase catalyzes bimolecular transfer reactions concomitantly with the hydrolysis of the peptide donor. Some of the transfer reactions studied have led to the synthesis of peptide dimers identical with or very similar to those found in the completed wall peptidoglycans of bacteria.

A Digestive Herbal Mixture Preparation Stimulates Proton Secretion in Human Parietal Cells through Phenolic Compounds Targeting Bitter Taste Receptors

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 6, 29 March 2026.
Polyphenol‐rich herbal extracts stimulate proton secretion in human parietal cells (HGT‐1) via activation of extra‐oral bitter taste receptors (TAS2Rs). A commercially available herbal mixture preparation and its nine solvent extracts show concentration‐dependent effects correlating with total polyphenol content.

The Baraitser–Winter Cerebrofrontofacial Syndrome Recurrent R196H Variant in Cytoplasmic β‐Actin Impairs Its Cellular Polymerization and Stability

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 1, 15 January 2026.
BWCFF, a severe disease with neurological symptoms, is caused by mutations in the cytoskeletal actin genes. Patient‐derived fibroblasts carrying the R196H β‐actin mutation were compared to wild type cells. The mutant cells displayed slower proliferation and migration and a lower F‐actin content, which correlated with reduced cell stiffness ...
