Presumed Primary Cardiac Angiosarcoma With Atrioventricular Groove Rupture and Right Coronary Artery Compromise: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Primary cardiac angiosarcoma should be considered in patients with hemorrhagic pericardial effusion and a right‐sided infiltrative cardiac mass. Atrioventricular‐groove involvement may cause rupture and right coronary artery compromise, requiring multimodality imaging and emergency salvage surgery; early multidisciplinary planning is essential

Prospective Evaluation of Quality‐of‐Life Improvement After Dapagliflozin Initiation in a Greek Population With HFrEF: The EVOLUTION‐HF 12‐Month Results

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 9, September 2026.
Among patients with HFrEF, initiation of dapagliflozin resulted in significant improvements in quality of life, as demonstrated by increased KCCQ‐23 scores during follow‐up. ABSTRACT Introduction Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), defined by a left ventricular ejection fraction ≤ 40%, remains a major global health challenge ...

Long‐Term Renal Function and Clinical Outcomes of Sacubitril/Valsartan in HFrEF and Stage 3–4 Chronic Kidney Disease: A 24‐Month Single‐Centre Cohort

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 9, September 2026.
In this 24‐month, single‐centre cohort of 360 patients with HFrEF and stage 3–4 chronic kidney disease, sacubitril/valsartan was well tolerated, with stable renal function, improved symptoms, and low rates of renal events and mortality. These descriptive findings are hypothesis‐generating and warrant confirmation in controlled studies.

Depression and Long‐Term HbA1c Variability Are Additively Associated With Increased Risk of Cardiovascular–Renal Outcomes, Severe Hypoglycaemia and Mortality in Type‐2 Diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, Volume 42, Issue 6, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims Depression and long‐term HbA1c variability are associated with adverse outcomes in type‐2 diabetes (T2D), which may be related to suboptimal self‐management practices and health‐related quality of life (HRQoL). Materials and Methods In the prospective Hong Kong Diabetes Register (2013–2019), we estimated the independent and joint ...

Efficacy of Telmisartan in MASLD/NAFLD: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
Evidence from six randomized controlled trials indicates that telmisartan offers modest glycemic benefit but does not consistently improve metabolic, biochemical, or histological outcomes in MASLD/NAFLD, highlighting the need for larger, well‐designed clinical trials.

Multifunctional Properties of Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) Essential Oil: Antimicrobial, Antibiofilm, and Insecticidal Effects

open access: yesFlavour and Fragrance Journal, Volume 41, Issue 5, Page 1245-1261, September 2026.
Unveiling the potential of Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) essential oil. ABSTRACT This study investigated the antimicrobial, antibiofilm, and insecticidal properties of wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens L.) essential oil (GPEO). The EO was chemically characterized by GC–MS, confirming methyl salicylate as the predominant compound (99.3%).

Sodium Intake and Osteoporosis Risk: Evidence From NHANES and Mendelian Randomization Analysis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
This study combined cross‐sectional data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) with Mendelian Randomization (MR) analysis to systematically investigate the relationship between sodium intake and osteoporosis. The results showed that within a specific intake range (> 6150 mg/day), sodium intake was significantly negatively ...

Serum Albumin and Uric Acid Levels Among Hypertensive Patients in Northwest Ethiopia: A Comparative Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Hypertension is a long‐term condition marked by consistently high arterial blood pressure. Hypertensive patients often experience altered serum albumin and uric acid, attributed to factors like inflammation, kidney damage, and the activation of the renin angiotensin aldosterone system.

Prevalence and Determinants of Pregnancy‐Induced Hypertension Among Women Attending Antenatal Care in Asella Town, Southeast Ethiopia: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Pregnancy‐Induced Hypertension (PIH) is a primary contributor to global maternal and perinatal mortality. This study determined the prevalence of PIH and identified its modifiable and non‐modifiable determinants among pregnant women attending antenatal care (ANC) in Asella Town, southeast Ethiopia.

Integrated one‐pot CRISPR‐Cas detection: Addressing strategies and future prospects

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, Volume 4, Issue 5, September 2026.
Integrated one‐pot CRISPR‐Cas detection significantly simplifies workflows, reduces cross‐contamination risks, and shortens turnaround times, making it highly suitable for point‐of‐care testing (POCT) and resource‐limited settings. Key challenges include system compatibility issues between Cas proteins and isothermal amplification, limited multiplexing
