Topology‐Enriched Toughness Enhancement in Quasi‐Periodic Metastructures Featuring Tailorable Strong‐Weak Network

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A quasi‐periodic Dart‐Kite (QDK) metastructure with a golden‐ratio‐constrained strong–weak bond network simultaneously enhances strength, toughness, and damage tolerance. Its distributed topology enables predictable, tailorable crack paths for precise fracture control and stable mechanics, demonstrating a high‐performance, controllable architecture ...

Hierarchical Ordering Induced Ultrahigh Cryogenic Strength and Strain Hardening in a Ni2CoFeV Medium‐Entropy Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A tri‐phase Ni2CoFeV medium‐entropy alloy with fcc, κ, and L12 phases achieves exceptional cryogenic strength‐ductility synergy at 77 K. It delivers a yield strength of 1.4 GPa, an ultimate tensile strength of 2.07 GPa and a tensile ductility of 28%.

Entropy Decoding the Fundamental Law of Phase Competition in Glass Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We validate the integration of intermetallic and eutectic phases as initial phases for composition design. The phase competition mechanism in glass formation is quantitatively clarified based on the melting entropy of competing phases. Glass‐forming ability is modulated by tuning phase competition via the melting entropy of initial phases.

Understanding the Past to Unpack the Present: Lessons from the Classroom

open access: yesJournal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
Teaching courses pertaining to race and ethnic relations can be difficult due to the nature of the topics being discussed. One approach to help ease students into the course material is to anchor the content within a historical framework.

Programmable Elastic Wave Control Via Mechanical‐Acoustic Interaction in Bistable Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A mechanically programmable metamaterial based on mechanical‐acoustic interaction enables reconfigurable elastic wave control through bistable state switching. Spatial encoding of peak and valley states tunes band structures and transmission, achieving low‐frequency vibration suppression, waveguiding, and energy localization.

REVIEW: Solid grounding on race in sport issues

open access: yesPacific Journalism Review, 2013
This slim volume is in the Routledge tradition of highly current but also academically reputable overviews of important media studies and political issues. Overall it lives up to expectations as a useful guide to theory.
