Udrożnianie górnych dróg oddechowych w stanach zagrożenia życia u dzieci

open access: yesPediatria i Medycyna Rodzinna, 2012
Wstęp: Większość przypadków nagłego zatrzymania krążenia występujących u dzieci wynika przede wszystkim z asfiksji, a nie z pierwotnej dysfunkcji mięśnia sercowego z towarzyszącymi zaburzeniami rytmu.

Vog: Using Volcanic Eruptions to Estimate the Health Costs of Particulates

open access: yesThe Economic Journal, EarlyView., 2018
The negative consequences of long‐term exposure to particulate pollution are well established but a number of studies find no effect of short‐term exposure on health outcomes. The high correlation of industrial pollutants complicates the estimation of the impact of individual pollutants on health.

Parental Digital Tracking of Adolescents' School Performance, Location, and Finances: Widespread, Often Accepted, and Linked to Overprotection

open access: yesJournal of Adolescence, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Digital tracking tools are now at parents' fingertips, raising concerns about infringement on adolescents' autonomy, privacy, and well‐being. Despite growing concerns about parental digital surveillance, empirical research beyond location tracking remains limited.

Investigating the impact of early adversity on perceived support from parents and friends in preadolescence: Do genetic predispositions and timing of exposure matter?

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
This study found that youth with a higher genetic risk for internalizing and externalizing problems were more likely to face adversity within their home, highlighting the need for risk mitigation. These associations varied by adversity type and timing. Additionally, low family income, parental divorce, and externalizing behaviours were linked to lower ...

Integrated Photonic Modulator Circuit With Programmable Intensity and Phase Modulation Response

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A platform‐agnostic programmable modulation circuit is introduced to enable tunable and universal optimization of integrated photonic modulators. By flexibly controlling carrier amplitude and phase, the approach adapts to diverse device characteristics without structural redesign.

Digital fire technologies and community networks: Cultivating just sociotechnical practices for living with planetary change

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Fires are expanding in frequency and intensity worldwide due to climate change and land‐use transformations. At the same time, fire often plays a regenerative role in ecosystems. Traditional and cultural practices incorporate fire use for landscape management and landscape renewal. In this complex matrix of fire ecologies, digital technologies

Evaluating anisotropy‐based Monin–Obukhov similarity theory over canopies and complex terrain

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
This study shows that an anisotropy‐based generalization of Monin–Obukhov surface‐layer scaling (SC23) applies readily across a wide range of atmospheric conditions with variable terrain, canopies, and land‐cover complexity. This work focuses on the scaling of velocity variances for 7 years at the 47 sites in the National Ecological Observation Network

Discovering the unseen: A performance comparison of taxonomic classification methods for unknown DNA barcodes

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract DNA barcoding and metabarcoding have emerged as cost‐efficient, standardized methods for characterizing local biodiversity. Based on the sequencing of a small targeted gene fragment, it is theoretically possible to identify a wide diversity of taxa by comparing them with reference sequence databases.
