Link prediction in ecological meta‐networks under extreme taxonomic bias
Abstract Ecological networks offer powerful insights into community function but, without first characterizing these networks accurately, our ability to detect and interpret changes under environmental stress is limited. We develop an extension of the Covariate‐Informed Link Prediction (COIL) framework to reduce bias in ecological link prediction when ...

The European Board of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine : the past, the present and the future [Europejska Rada Medycyny Fizykalnej i Rehabilitacji: przeszłość, teraźniejszość i perspektywy] [PDF]
Right from the beginning of the development of the medical specialty of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) the harmonization of the fields of competence and the specialist training across Europe was always an important issue. The initially informal European collaboration was formalized in 1963 under the umbrella of the European Federation of ...

Abstract Detecting environmental DNA (eDNA) from rare or low‐abundance aquatic species remains a major challenge, particularly when it is highly degraded, present at low concentrations, and dominated by DNA from non‐target taxa. These challenges are further amplified in sedimentary ancient DNA (sedaDNA) studies, where thousands of years can degrade ...

Basis Networks: Learning basis functions for free‐form triangulations
Abstract We present a framework for learning compactly supported basis functions that define tangent continuous surfaces based on coarse irregular triangle meshes. The basis functions are represented as MLPs. Smoothness of the basis functions is achieved by using the values of Loop basis functions as the parameterization of the surface.

Europejska Rada Budżetowa jako organ uzupełniający narodowe rady fiskalne w krajach strefy euro
This article presents selected theoretical aspects of independent fiscal councils, characterizes their role in the fiscal surveillance in the euro area countries, and shows genesis and principles of the functioning of the European Fiscal Board. The article also points out to controversies concerning the above mentioned Board as the body created by the ...

Non‐Rigid 3D Shape Correspondences: From Foundations to Open Challenges and Opportunities
Abstract Estimating correspondences between deformed shape instances is a long‐standing problem in computer graphics; numerous applications, from texture transfer to statistical modelling, rely on recovering an accurate correspondence map. Many methods have thus been proposed to tackle this challenging problem from varying perspectives, depending on ...

As‐Rigid‐As‐Possible Regularization for Implicit Surfaces
Abstract Implicit surface representations have regained popularity because of their use in machine learning. A common component in optimization is regularization, penalizing the deviation of the surface from its original shape. The popular as‐rigid‐as‐possible (Arap) energy strikes a good compromise between realistic deformation behavior and efficient ...

On Bending in the As‐Rigid‐As‐Possible Deformation Energy
Abstract The well‐established As‐Rigid‐As‐Possible (ARAP) energy has various forms. For surface deformation, commonly used energies contain an implicit bending penalty. We present a natural, continuous generalization that incorporates multiple ARAP versions with an implicit, user‐controllable bending penalty.

Does nature shape risk preferences? Evidence from Chile, Norway, and Tanzania
Abstract Does exposure to a more risky environment affect risk preferences? Going beyond single‐case study evidence, we report results from five surveys conducted in three countries and link this with administrative data to study whether a link between exposure and preferences is detectable and widespread. We find no evidence for endogenous preferences

Do Words Matter? Evaluative Media Framing, Protest Actions, and Donations to Climate Action
ABSTRACT Public support is essential to effective climate policies, yet responses to climate activism may depend on how protests are covered in the news. Building on research on activist tactics, media framing, and construal level theory, we examined whether the tone of media coverage (neutral vs.
