Vibrating Antenna Doppler Radar
2020 17th European Radar Conference (EuRAD), 2021This paper presents a new method of gaining spatial resolution in continuous wave (CW) Doppler radars by using a vibrating antenna. Resolution of direction finding, though conventionally controlled through beam steering or other circuitry, is decoupled from the antenna and front-end circuitry by vibrating the antenna in a controlled fashion.

IRE International Convention Record, 2005
The current military requirements for the detection of missiles at ranges of 2000 to 3000 miles has led to the need for high-gain antennas at wavelengths of approximately one meter. Because of the unwieldy size of such antennas, the authors have been investigating antenna types in which the beam directional control can be accomplished by switching the ...

Secondary Surveillance Radar Antenna [Antenna Designer's Notebook]
IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, 2013This paper deals with a secondary surveillance radar (SSR) array antenna, which is intended for a system combining the secondary surveillance radar antenna and the primary surveillance radar antenna. It describes the patch array elements and the synthesis for the secondary surveillance radar array, considering both elevation and azimuth patterns for ...

Vivaldi antennas: wideband radar antennas simulation and reality
IET International Conference on Radar Systems 2007, 2007Multiple applications sharing a single multiple-aperture array is a driver for research into wideband antenna design. Vivaldi antennas are inherently wideband and are known to have good RF characteristics, are inexpensive and easy to manufacture, and have a flat profile enabling construction of compact arrays.

Radar with separated subarray antennas
2003 Proceedings of the International Conference on Radar (IEEE Cat. No.03EX695), 2004In the work reported in this paper, we have investigated the possibilities of using separated subarray apertures in various radar applications based on the next generation technology for active electronically scanned arrays, (AESA). We have looked at the possible benefits of using separated subarray apertures and have adapted sidelobe- and main lobe ...
