The influence of radome on radar antennas system

The study was performed using numerical methods, due to the problem complexity. It is very hard to accomplish a complete realistic study because of huge electrical dimensions but we can get some conclusions to improve the radar-radome assembly.

Compact Slotted Antenna for Wideband Radar Applications
2013A new type of slotted microstrip antenna, suitable for wideband radar applications, is proposed in this work. The standard U-slot shape, usually adopted to enlarge the operating bandwidth of a microstrip patch, is properly modified to reduce the undesired cross-polar effects, while providing also a significant size reduction.

Pressurized antennas for space radars
Sensor Systems for the 80's Conference, 1980The low weight and packaged volume of inflatables relative to mechanical systems has long been known. A 700-meter diameter inflated reflector could be carried in a single shuttle payload. Surface tolerances were demonstrated resulting in acceptable gains for microwave wavelengths greater than 1 cm.

Torque requirements of a radar antenna
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Part I: Communication and Electronics, 1954Results of wind tunnel tests on an experimental radar antenna are discussed. The torque required to rotate the antenna was seen to vary with the azimuth position, the elevation angle, the pivot location, the rotating speed, and the wind velocity. A correlation of the data based on dimensionless parameters was found.
