Comparative measurements of precision radar cross section (RCS) calibration targets

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 2001 Digest. Held in conjunction with: USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting (Cat. No.01CH37229), 2002
Precise radar cross section (RCS) measurements of an arbitrary target require the measurement radar system to be calibrated with a highly accurate "known" RCS target. To minimize calibration errors, RCS calibration "targets" generally meet two demanding criteria: (1) the RCS must be precisely known; (2) the calibration target must have realistic and ...

Comparative study of high frequency techniques in radar cross-section (RCS) estimation

Proceedings of the 9th International Seminar/Workshop on Direct and Inverse Problems of Electromagnetic and Acoustic Wave Theory, 2004. DIPED 2004., 2004
The paper studies and analyzes scattering by some of the shapes that are most used to model targets. From simple shapes, like cylinder and cone, to the conically capped cylinder, different techniques are used to analyze the scattering phenomena. Results obtained are compared over a wide range of frequencies and aspect angles.

Van Vleck Revisited - The RCS (Radar Cross Section) of Thin Wires

1973
Abstract : The approximate theory of radar reflection from thin wires by Van Vleck, et. al., gives very good average radar cross section (RCS) results and good angular RCS results except end-on. In the paper, the nature of this end-on discrepancy is examined. It is found that, if the complete expressions derived by Van Vleck, et.

High-frequency Radar Cross Section (RCS) Approximation of a Thin Dielectric Spherical Shell

2012
Abstract : The high-frequency radar cross section (RCS) of a thin-filmed dielectric sphere in the far-field was approximated using a model based on two thin parallel dielectric plates. The results were compared to a solution developed by Andreasen based upon simplified boundary conditions.

A full-scale static radar cross-section (RCS) measurement facility

2007
We present an overview of a full-scale static RCS near-field measurement facility, and some sample measurements. The measurements, and the target, are in the near-field RCS range. Corrections for distance are made using sophisticated software.
