Rapid Diagnostics of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces Using Space‐Time‐Coding Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fast reconfigurable‐intelligent‐surface (RIS) diagnostics method is proposed based on spatio‐temporal modulation with orthogonal codes. Theoretical analysis demonstrates a clear distinction in code channel power between normal and faulty elements. Simulations validate its feasibility under high fault ratios and varying receiving angles.

Charge-coupled device data processor for an airborne imaging radar system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Processing of raw analog echo data from synthetic aperture radar receiver into images on board an airborne radar platform is discussed. Processing is made feasible by utilizing charge-coupled devices (CCD).

Time-Delay Multiplexing of Two Beams in a Terahertz Imaging Radar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We demonstrate a time-delay multiplexing technique that doubles the frame rate of a 660–690-GHz imaging radar with minimal additional instrument complexity.

A Robust Dual‐mode Self‐Monitoring Battery Thermal Management System via Bilayer Structural Design

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An adaptive dual‐mode material capable of both evaporative cooling and photothermal preheating is developed. It achieves a cooling efficiency of 53.9%, surpassing existing evaporative cooling counterparts, and a self‐monitoring capability, making it ideal for electric vehicles, portable electronics, and grid‐scale energy storage.

Joint Aperture and Power Allocation Strategy for a Radar Network Localization System Based on Low Probability of Interception Optimization

open access: yesSensors, 2023
In the process of using the Distributed Radar Network Localization System (DRNLS) further to improve the survivability of a carrier platform, the random characteristics of the system’s Aperture Resource Allocation (ARA) and Radar Cross Section (RCS) are ...

Normalization and interpretation of radar images [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1998
Calibrated radar images are often quantified as radar cross sections. This interpretation, which is not strictly correct, can lead to misunderstanding of test target scattering properties. To avoid confusion, we recommend that a term such as "scattering brightness" defined in the present paper be adopted as a standard label for image-domain data.

Quasi‐Periodic Surface Functionalization by Ultra‐Short Pulsed Laser Processing: Unlocking Superior Heat Transfer in Vapor Chambers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultra‐short pulsed laser processing (ULSP) enables scalable, open‐air fabrication of self‐organized, quasi‐periodic micro/nanostructures on copper using 100 µm laser beams, orders of magnitude larger than the resulting surface features. Integrated into ultra‐thin, wick‐free vapor chambers, these laser‐functionalized surfaces dramatically enhance ...

Feature-Guided SAR-to-Optical Image Translation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The powerful performance of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) in image-to-image translation has been well demonstrated in recent years. However, most methods are focused on completing an isolated image translation task.

Sparse representation-based synthetic aperture radar imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
There is increasing interest in using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images in automated target recognition and decision-making tasks. The success of such tasks depends on how well the reconstructed SAR images exhibit certain features of the underlying ...
