Target Detection Using HF Radar Data
OCEANS 2007 - Europe, 2007High frequency (HF) radar systems have a potential to detect targets which are located beyond the optical horizon on the sea surface. Unfortunately sea clutter may be strong enough to prevent such detection. In this work we present results of applying space-time adaptive processing (STAP) to this problem.

Target detection is one of the very first operations, which has to be performed on received radar signal. The purpose of detection is normally to distinguish genuine target reflections from noise and clutter. This chapter discusses the main concepts and methods used for radar detection.

Radar Target Detection Based on Information Theory
2021In this paper, the information theory method (ITM) is applied to radar detection system in the presence of complex additive white Gaussian noise (CAWGN). We introduce the target existence parameter into the radar detection system, which realize the unification of detection and estimation.

Detection of Marine Radar Targets
Journal of Navigation, 1996A radar must detect targets before it can display them. Yet manufacturers' data sheets rarely tell us what the products will detect at what range. Many of the bigger radars are Type Approved so we consult the relevant IMO performance standard A 477 (XII).

Cognitive Radar Framework for Target Detection and Tracking
IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Signal Processing, 2015Most radar systems employ a feed-forward processing chain in which they first perform some low-level processing of received sensor data to obtain target detections and then pass the processed data on to some higher-level processor such as a tracker, which extracts information to achieve a system objective.

Multipath effect on radar detection of nonfluctuating targets
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2015We derive the probability density function (PDF) of a received radar signal in the presence of multipath when a reflecting surface with an arbitrary reflection coefficient exists. Using the PDF, we present the detection probabilities of nonfluctuating targets for various reflection coefficients and analyze the multipath effect on radar detection.

Target detection of MIMO radar
Proceedings of 2011 Cross Strait Quad-Regional Radio Science and Wireless Technology Conference, 2011This paper mainly analyses the performance advantage of MIMO radar in target detection. Firstly, the basic concept of radar system and models of radar echo signal were introduced. The detection performance of MIMO radar was analyzed afterwards. Then, the relationships among detection probability, false-alarm probability and signal-to-noise ratio under ...

Fast Direct Detection of Accelerating Radar Targets
2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO), 2019This paper describes a group theoretic method for the detection of accelerating targets in both active and passive radar applications. The method directly produces a two dimensional range-Doppler rate map by utilizing multiple time and frequency shifts of the slow time data to structure the problem as one of detection of a multi-channel unknown rank ...
