Satellite-Tracking Radar

Bell System Technical Journal, 1961
This paper is concerned with the radar employed at Bell Telephone Laboratories, Holmdel, New Jersey, site for tracking the Echo I satellite. The radar was originally designed for the sole purpose of antenna pointing. Recently, however, it has also been employed to measure earth-balloon-earth path loss at regular intervals of time in order to keep track

Automated tracking of filmed radar echoes

Pattern Recognition, 1981
Abstract The paper describes a general methodology for tracking fuzzy planar objects. It involves a five-stage tracking cycle with an internal fuzzy object locator sub-cycle. The methodology is illustrated by an application to tracking radar echoes of shipping in the English Channel on 16 mm film.

Track-Before-Detect Strategies for STAP Radars

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2010
In this correspondence we propose track-before-detect (TBD) strategies for space-time adaptive processing (STAP) radars. As a preliminary step we introduce the target and noise models in discrete-time form. Then, resorting to generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT)-based and ad hoc procedures we derive detectors for two different scenarios (a point ...

A regional track correlation method for multi-radar multi-track in distributed radar network

2006 CIE International Conference on Radar, 2006
In a distributed radar network, the traditional multi-radar multi-track correlation method is very time-consuming. A feasible solution of this problem is presented in this paper. We put forward a novel method which is called regional track correlation method. In this method, the entire target region is partitioned to sub regions. Then the correlativity

Radar selection for single-target tracking in radar networks

2015 IEEE Radar Conference (RadarCon), 2015
A sensor networks comprise a large number of sensor nodes collaboratively collecting information, carrying out simple computation with their onboard processing capabilities. In recent years, sensor selection has become an important problem in managing sensor networks.

Inverse probability in angular-tracking radars

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1956
An angular-tracking radar of the pulsed type is analyzed for targets whose signal-return in the video follows a Rayleigh distribution. The pulse amplitudes are assumed independent from pulse-to-pulse but closely correlated for the duration of a pulse width. White Gaussian noise is introduced into the input of the receiver.

Radar Tracking Algorithms

2010
When radar systems are discussed in the literature or the remainder of this text, it is in the context of a sensor providing observations of the environment. While some of those measurements are responses from coherent waveforms of finite duration, the environment is treated as stationary with at most linear motion on the targets.

Tracking noise measurements on a manual tracking radar

Transactions of the IRE Professional Group on Antennas and Propagation, 1952
Tracking noise measurements have been made on a manual tracking, sector-scan radar, Methods have been devised to measure the operator's tracking error, which has been assumed to be the principal source of tracking noise. In tests made with an actual moving target, it is extremely difficult to distinguish between tracking errors and the true target ...

Cognition in radar target tracking

2017
This chapter has been devoted to the design of a tracker exploiting cognition at multiple levels. Specifically, environmental maps and characteristics of the targets, available in the dynamic database possibly learned from the feedback channel, have been used to gain improved tracking performance in a multiple targets scenario exploiting measurements ...
