Radial Artery Pseudoaneurysm

Journal of Hand Surgery, 2017
To review the causes, clinical course, and management of patients with catheter-associated radial artery pseudoaneurysm (PSA).We reviewed all patients diagnosed with radial artery PSA resulting from arterial line placement or radial artery access for cardiac procedures from 2010 to 2015.We identified 11 cases: 5 caused by arterial lines and 6 by ...

The radial artery forearm flap: an anomaly of the radial artery

British Journal of Plastic Surgery, 1985
The radial forearm flap derives its blood supply from the radial artery. Anatomical variations of this vessel are uncommon. This report describes an anomaly which has relevance for the radial forearm flap.

Radial Artery Access, Hemostasis, and Radial Artery Occlusion

Interventional Cardiology Clinics, 2015
Radial artery access is usually achieved using a micropuncture system. Hydrophilic introducers are used to improve comfort, probably by reducing spasm. A vasodilator cocktail should be administered to prevent severe spasm and anticoagulation; usually, unfractionated heparin is administered to prevent subsequent radial artery occlusion (RAO). Hemostasis

Radial Artery Punctures

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1971
Excerpt To the editor: We agree with Matthews and Gibbons, authors of "Embolization Complicating Radial Artery Puncture," (ANNALS, 75:87-88, 1971), that complications from single-stick radial arter...

Aplasia of the Radial Artery

Cardiovascular Surgery, 1993
A 2-year-old girl with asymmetrical upper limbs and underdevelopment of the bones of the left forearm, wrist and hand with associated muscular and osteal hypoplasia is described. Doppler ultrasonography of the arterial trunks of the upper limb suggested a normal ulnar trunk in the left upper arm, an arterial vessel extending from the bend of the elbow

Radial arterial lines

British Journal of Hospital Medicine, 2006
Intra-arterial cannulae in the radial artery are used for invasive arterial blood pressure (IABP) measurement and for collection of blood for analysis. The radial artery is the preferred site for insertion because of low complication rates. Arterial lines are the gold standard for accurate blood pressure (BP) measurement.

Radial artery grafting

Multimedia Manual of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2006
After its recent reintroduction in coronary surgery the radial artery is gaining wide acceptance as complementary arterial conduits for surgical myocardial revascularization. The main technical aspects of radial artery harvesting, the biological and vasoactive characteristics of radial artery grafts as well as the mid- to long-term angiographic results

The radial artery

2021
The radial artery is an easily harvested, versatile, and high-quality conduit with proven safety and efficacy during coronary artery bypass grafting. When properly harvested and deployed, the long-term patency is excellent and similar to the left internal thoracic artery.

Arterial reconstruction for radial artery occlusion

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2000
This study was designed to detail the history and symptoms of symptomatic radial artery vaso-occlusive disease and to evaluate the results of radial artery reconstruction. Thirteen patients with symptomatic vaso-occlusive disease of the radial artery unresponsive to management by nonoperative modalities were managed with arterial reconstruction.

The Radial Artery: A Forgotten Conduit

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2015
We reviewed the published literature on the clinical and angiographic outcome of radial artery (RA) grafts and on the comparison between the RA and the other conduits used in coronary operations. The RA is a better graft than the saphenous vein and comparable to the right internal thoracic artery (RITA); moreover, the RA seems a better choice than the ...
