Acquired Radial Club Hand with Humero-Ulnar Dislocation: A Rare Sequel to Infantile Compartment Syndrome following Venous Cannulation: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery, 2007
Acquired radial club hand caused by infection has been reported occasionally. We report a rare case of acquired radial club hand with an associated septic dislocation of the elbow, primarily caused by compartment syndrome following venous cannulation ...

Bone-periosteal-muscle flap for ulnar lengthening in children with congenital radial club hand [PDF]

open access: yesTravmatologiâ i Ortopediâ Rossii
Background. Congenital radial club hand is characterized by the underdevelopment of all forearm structures. Ulnar bone shortening ranges from 24.7% to 50.0% compared to the intact limb.

Acquired Manus Valgus: A Difficult Problem with a Simple Solution

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation, 2014
Acquired manus valgus or acquired radial-club hand deformity of the wrist is an uncommon entity. Pathological destruction of the distal radius, following infection, trauma, or tumorous conditions in the paediatric population, often leads to radial ...

Correction of Length Discrepancy of Radius and Ulna with Distraction Osteogenesis: Three Cases

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, 2015
Objectives. The aim of the study was to investigate the results of patients with isolated length discrepancy between ulna and radius who underwent distraction osteogenesis with unilateral external fixator. Material and Methods.

Soft motions encoded by the fold and mediated by conserved hinge sites drive V‐ATPase allosteric machinery and autoinhibition

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Vacuolar H+‐ATPase (V‐ATPase) is a multisubunit rotary proton pump that acidifies intracellular compartments. Using elastic network models, we identified conserved hinge residues that govern its large‐scale functional motions. We show that intrinsically encoded ‘soft modes’ drive critical functional transitions, including rotary catalysis and ...

First-trimester Detection of Isolated Unilateral Complete Radial Aplasia during Nuchal Translucency Screening: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Radial ray defects are congenital upper-limb anomalies involving the radius, radial carpal structures and thumb. We report a 24-year-old primigravida in whom left-sided complete radial aplasia with radial club hand and absent thumb (Bayne-Klug Type IV ...

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Individuals With Multijoint Osteoarthritis Demonstrate Larger Longitudinal Declines in Frailty: Data From the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that multijoint osteoarthritis would modify the relation between time and frailty progression, in which more affected joints would lead to larger declines over six years compared to those without osteoarthritis using data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging.

Enhancement of the Through‐Thickness Electrical Conductivity of Carbon‐Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Using Large Graphite Particles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
To enhance through‐thickness conductivity without sacrificing impregnation, large spherical graphite particles are intentionally employed in a low‐viscosity resin. Unlike finer conductive fillers, these particles remain outside the fiber bundles and accumulate in resin‐rich interlaminar regions during molding.
