Bio‐Inspired Artificial Ionic Mechanoreceptor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A skin‐inspired artificial mechanoreceptor based on ionic interactions is presented for biomimetic tactile sensing. Pressure‐driven ionic redistribution within microfluidic channels generates a self‐powered electrical signal without external bias. The generated waveform exhibits mechanoreceptor‐like temporal features, including overshoot and undershoot,

Centralization of Radial Club Hand

open access: yesOrthopedics and Rheumatology Open Access Journal, 2016
Radial club hand, often referred to as radial longitudinal deficiency (RLD), is a rare congenital condition characterized by an underdevelopment and malformation of the radial side structures of the forearm and hand. The anomaly, first described by Petit in 1733, is characterized by a significant shortening of the forearm, radial angulation of the ...

Congenital Heart Disease in Radial Clubbed Hand Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Disease in Childhood, 1971
A study has been made of children born with radial clubbed hands, with reference to the incidence of coexisting congenital heart malformations. In this series of 61 patients with radial clubbed hands 8 had proven heart disease, with a wide variety of congenital cardiac defects.

Mechanics of Telson Ridges in Mantis Shrimp for Impact Analysis and Implications for Bioinspired Elastic Shell Designs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The mantis shrimp telson reveals how ridged biological shields control deformation under impact. Inspired by this architecture, telson‐inspired ridged curved shells transform ridge geometry and macroscopic curvature into bidirectional snap‐through, tunable stiffness, and enhanced hysteretic energy dissipation for multifunctional architected materials ...

A New Strategy for Creating Quantum Light Emitters Via Post‐Growth Hydrogen‐Ion Irradiation of III‐V Nanowires

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A post‐growth method is demonstrated to realize energy‐tunable quantum emitters in GaAs/GaAsN/GaAs core–multishell nanowires on a Si substrate. By combining the N‐induced bandgap reduction with H‐ion irradiation, the GaAsN potential landscape is engineered, enabling isolated, narrow emission lines that function as single‐photon sources with g(2)(0) ∼ 0.
