A Unique Case of Bilateral Elbow Terrible Triad in a Polytrauma Patient: Associated Challenges in Management

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Case Reports
Introduction: The terrible triad of the elbow–consisting of elbow dislocation, radial head fracture, and coronoid process fracture–is a challenging injury to treat.

The influence of femoral head size following total hip replacement and hip resurfacing on hip biomechanics during walking, stair use and sit-to-stand [PDF]

open access: yes
Due to geometrical features, it is claimed that larger femoral heads in total hip replacement (THR) are superior in achieving normal biomechanics than smaller ones; and that hip resurfacing (RSF) is superior to THR. This has not been conclusively proven.

A radiographic study of proximal radius anatomy with implications in radial head replacement

open access: yes, 2003
Anteroposterior (AP) and lateral radiographs of 20 healthy volunteers' forearms were taken in three views (full supination, neutral rotation, and full pronation). Radial head maximum diameter and angular measurements between the axis of forearm rotation (

Continuum Robots in Surgery: From Engineering Design to Clinical Practice

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
The hyper‐redundant nature of continuum robot structures enables near‐infinite degrees of freedom leading to immense potential for medical applications. This review provides a historical background of continuum robots and novel ideas shaping their progress to current structural design, sensing technology, modeling techniques, and control methods.

Human‐Scale Rotating Magnetic Field Delivery With Permanent Magnets Under Anatomic and Robotic Constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Rotating magnetic fields (RMFs) are widely used for microrobot propulsion and control. We show that RMF generation with permanent magnets is mechanically feasible for many limb and intracranial applications but becomes constrained for thoracic targets.

TacVerse: A Multisensor Dataset and Benchmark for Cross‐Sensor Vision‐Based Tactile Perception

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
TacVerse provides a controlled benchmark of 106 800 tactile images from seven vision‐based tactile sensors across shape classification, grating classification, and force regression. Direct cross‐sensor transfer reveals substantial sensor‐shift degradation, with grating and force perception more affected than shape recognition.

Microscale Mapping of Fiber Strain and Damage in Composite Wrinkled Laminates Using Computed Tomography Assisted Wide‐Angle X‐Ray Scattering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study combines full‐field tomography with diffraction mapping to quantify radial (ε002$\varepsilon _{002}$) and axial (ε100$\varepsilon _{100}$) lattice strain in wrinkled carbon‐fiber specimens for the first time. Radial microstrain gradients (−14.5 µεMPa$\varepsilon \mathrm{MPa}$−1) are found to signal damage‐prone zones ahead of failure, which ...
