SUPERFICIAL RADIAL NEUROPATHY FOLLOWING VENEPUNCTURE

open access: yesInternational Journal of Clinical Practice, 2001
SUMMARYA 42‐year‐old female suffered excruciating pain and paraesthesia on venepuncture of the cephalic vein in her left wrist. The left superficial radial nerve was injured. A flexed wrist during venepuncture renders the superficial radial nerve immobile and vulnerable to being punctured by the needle.

GHRHR Deficiency Enhances Retinal Ganglion Cell Survival and Visual Functions in Experimental Glaucoma by Inhibiting Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

Ultrasonographic evaluation of the median nerve: normal and variant anatomy and appearance

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasonography, 2021
The median nerve is a mixed sensory and motor nerve that innervates part of the flexor muscles in the anterior compartment of the forearm and muscles in the lateral part of the hand; palmar cutaneous and digital cutaneous nerves branch from the median ...

Impact of Abdominoperineal Resection on Postoperative Male Sexual Function After Minimally Invasive Rectal Cancer Surgery: A Subgroup Analysis From the LANDMARC Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Abdominoperineal resection (APR) after minimally invasive rectal cancer surgery was associated with significantly higher rates of erectile and early ejaculatory dysfunction compared with anal‐sparing surgery. Although ejaculatory function showed partial recovery over time, erectile dysfunction persisted up to 12 months postoperatively.

Neglected Monteggia fracture dislocation in children: The impact of step cut osteotomy on ulna consolidation and radial head reduction. A case report

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Reports, 2023
Background: Monteggia fracture is identified as ulna fracture combined with radial head dislocation. If not diagnosed at an early stage, it leads to elbow impairment including: cubitus valgus, elbow instability and deformity, decreased supination ...

Conditioning Electrical Stimulation for Patients with Moderate or Severe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Double Blinded Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) can drastically impair one's ability to work and interferes with activities of daily living. We recently demonstrated that, in rodents, conditioning electrical stimulation (CES) delivered to the nerve 7 days prior to surgery imparts a conditioning lesion‐like effect by accelerating the rate of regeneration along ...

Iatrogenic Damage to the Radial Nerve During Osteosynthesis of the Humerus. Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment

open access: yesНеотложная медицинская помощь, 2020
THE RELEVANCE is determined by the significant frequency of iatrogenic injuries of the radial nerve during internal osteosynthesis of the humerus, long-lasting functional disorders, a large number of unsatisfactory results, as well as the lack of a ...

Integrating yoga into anatomy and clinical medicine education: A holistic approach to learning

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Anatomical knowledge is fundamental for success in clinical settings. Unfortunately, anatomy education within professional health programs has experienced a continual decrease in contact hours and curricular content over the previous two decades, leading to deficits and potential gaps in anatomical science knowledge.

A panorama of radial nerve pathologies- an imaging diagnosis: a step ahead

open access: yesInsights into Imaging, 2018
The radial nerve has a long and tortuous course in the upper limb. Injury to the nerve can occur due to a multitude of causes at many potential sites along its course. The most common site of involvement is in the proximal forearm affecting the posterior

The Role of Ultrasound across the Continuum of Care for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common upper limb entrapment neuropathy and a leading cause of pain, functional impairment, and surgical referral. This article demonstrates the central role of ultrasound (US) across the continuum of CTS care, both for confirming the CTS diagnosis and for guiding treatments ranging from perineural injections to
