Ferroelectricity in Antiferromagnetic Wurtzite Nitrides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We establish MnSiN2${\rm MnSiN}_2$ and MnGeN2${\rm MnGeN}_2$ as aristotypes of a new multiferroic wurtzite family that simultaneously exhibits ferroelectricity and antiferromagnetism with altermagnetic spin splitting. By strategically substituting alkaline‐earth metals, we predict new materials with coexisting switchable polarization, spin texture, and

An automatic methodology for obtaining optimum shape factors for the radial point interpolation method

open access: yesJournal of Microwaves, Optoelectronics and Electromagnetic Applications
In this letter, a methodology is proposed for automatically (and locally) obtaining the shape factor c for the Gaussian basis functions, for each support domain, in order to increase numerical precision and mainly to avoid matrix inversion ...

Comparison of spatial interpolation methods and multi-layer neural networks for different point distributions on a digital elevation model

open access: yesGeodetski Vestnik, 2013
Interpolation of a spatially continuous variable from point samples is an important field in spatial analysis and surface models for geosciences. In this study, spatial interpolation methods which are Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW), Ordinary Kriging (OK)

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Metal Integration Principles, Strategies and Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metals have been recognized as versatile platforms for photocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2PRR). Herein, an overview of metal integration strategies for COFs is systematically summarized. Regulatory mechanisms and structure–activity relationships between metal integration and COF‐based CO2PRR are emphasized.

Universal optimality of the $E_8$ and Leech lattices and interpolation formulas

open access: yes, 2019
We prove that the $E_8$ root lattice and the Leech lattice are universally optimal among point configurations in Euclidean spaces of dimensions $8$ and $24$, respectively.

Numerical solutions of a boundary value problem on the sphere using radial basis functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Boundary value problems on the unit sphere arise naturally in geophysics and oceanography when scientists model a physical quantity on large scales. Robust numerical methods play an important role in solving these problems.

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Partition of Unity Interpolation on Multivariate Convex Domains

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper we present a new algorithm for multivariate interpolation of scattered data sets lying in convex domains $\Omega \subseteq \RR^N$, for any $N \geq 2$.

Artifact‐Minimizing Ultrathin Transparent Electrodes Fabricated via iCVD for In Vivo Optogenetic Stimulation and Neural Signal Monitoring of Primary Visual Cortex

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present ultrathin flexible transparent electrodes through iCVD‐enabled molecular control of 10 nm gold films on poly(dimethylaminomethylstyrene). In vivo validation demonstrated photoelectric artifact reduction vs. opaque electrodes and preservation of natural neural dynamics.

Characteristic-Based Split Meshless Solution for Couette Flow

open access: yesCivil and Environmental Engineering, 2014
The paper deals with use of the meshless method for incompressible fluid flow analysis. There are many formulations of the meshless methods. The article presents the Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin method (MLPG) - local weak formulation of the Navier ...
