Radial Symmetry of Positive Solutions of Nonlinear Elliptic Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
. We study the radial symmetry and asymptotic behavior at x = 1 of positive solutions of \Deltau = '(jxj)u ; x 2 IR n and jxj large () where ? 1 and '(r) is positive and continuous for r large.

Infinitely many radial solutions for a sub-super critical Dirichlet boundary value problem in a ball

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2007
We prove the existence of infinitely many solutions to a semilinear Dirichlet boundary value problem in a ball for a nonlinearity $g(u)$ that grows subcritically for $u$ positive and supercritically for $u$ negative.

Triangular Index Ratio as an Alternative Method to the Alpha Angle for Defining the Presence of Cam Morphology: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Cam morphology, which is a significant risk factor for hip osteoarthritis, is commonly quantified by the alpha angle (AA). This study aims to explore the potential of the triangular index ratio (TIR) to quantify cam morphology on anteroposterior radiographs by assessing the association between TIR‐defined cam morphology and the development of

Non-radial normalized solutions for a nonlinear Schrodinger equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
This article concerns the existence of multiple non-radial positive solutions of the L2-constrained problem -Δu - Q(ɛx)|u|p-2u = λu, in ℝN, ∫ℝN |u|2dx = 1, where Q(x) is a radially symmetric function, ε>0 is a small parameter, N≥2, and p in (2, 2+4/N)

Oscillatory Radial Solutions of Semilinear Elliptic Equations

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1997
We study the oscillatory behavior of radial solutions of the nonlinear partial differential equation Δu + f(u) + g(|x|, u) = 0 inRn, where f and g are continuous restoring functions, uf(u) > 0 and ug(|x|, u) > 0 for u ≠ 0. We assume that for fixedq limu → 0(|f(u)|/|u|q) = B > 0, for 1 < q < n/(n − 2), and, additionally, that 2F(u) ≥ (1 − 2/n)uf(u) when

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for
