Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Blade row interaction in radial turbomachines [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A computational study has been performed to investigate the effects of blade row interaction on the performance of radial turbomachines, which was motivated by the need to improve our understanding of the blade row interaction phenomena for further ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Radial solutions for equations of Weingarten type [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
In this paper we study the linear Weingarten equation defined by the fully non-linear PDE adivDu/root 1+|Du|(2)+bdetD(2)u/(1+|Du|(2))(2)=?(1/root 1+|Du|(2)) in a domain omega subset of R-2, where ?is an element of C-1([-1,1]) and a,b is an element of R ...

Effects of graded-index and Poisson's ratio on elastic-solutions of a pressurized functionally graded material thick-walled cylinder

open access: yesForces in Mechanics, 2021
In this study, the effect of graded-index and Poisson's ratio on the elastic-numerical solutions of an axisymmetric functionally graded material (FGM) thick-walled cylinder under internal pressure in-plane strain condition is presented.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
