Suboptimal solutions to network team optimization problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Smoothness of the solutions to network team optimization problems with statistical information structure is investigated. Suboptimal solutions expressed as linear combinations of elements from sets of basis functions containing adjustable parameters are ...

Infinitely many non-radial singular solutions of [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We construct countably infinitely many non-radial singular solutions of the problemof the formwhere v(σ) depends only on σ ∈𝕊N−1. To this end we construct countably infinitely many solutions ofusing ordinary differential equation techniques.

Investigating the graded-index influence on elastic responses of axisymmetric pressurized and heated thick-walled functionally graded material of cylindrical vessel

open access: yesForces in Mechanics, 2022
This article presents the influence of a graded-index on the elastic responses of an axisymmetric pressurized and heated thick-walled functionally graded material (FGM) cylindrical vessel under plane strain conditions.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Radial and non-radial solutions to an elliptic problem on annular domains in Riemannian manifolds with radial symmetry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We show existence and uniqueness of positive radial solutions to. {Delta_g u+λu+u^p=0 in A,u=0 on ∂A, with λ. < 0, A being an annular domain in a Riemannian manifold M of dimension n endowed with the metric dr^2+S^2(r)g_(S^n-1).

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Existence of positive radial solutions of general quasilinear elliptic systems

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis
Let Ω⊂Rn(n≥2)\Omega \subset {{\mathbb{R}}}^{n}\hspace{0.33em}\left(n\ge 2) be either an open ball BR{B}_{R} centred at the origin or the whole space. We study the existence of positive, radial solutions of quasilinear elliptic systems of the form Δpu=f1(∣

Radial solutions and a local bifurcation result for a singular elliptic problem with Neumann condition

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations
We study the problem $-\Delta u=\lambda u-u^{-1}$ with a Neumann boundary condition; the peculiarity being the presence of the singular term $-u^{-1}$.
