The Effect of the Radial Head and Prosthetic Radial Head Replacement on Resisting Valgus Stress at the Elbow

Orthopedics, 1986
ABSTRACT: Five fresh nonembalmed elbows were tested for resistance to valgus stress in their anatomic state, after radial head resection, and after insertion of Silastic® and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) radial head replacements. The resistance to valgus stress was found to be reduced an average of 28% after radial head resection.

Stress analysis study in cooled radial inflow turbine

16th Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1978
With increased turbine inlet temperatures, numerical methods of thermal and stress analysis are becoming more valuable in the design of air-cooled turbines. This paper presents a study of the stresses associated with different cooling patterns in a radial inflow turbine rotor.

Integral Equation for the Radial Stresses in a Radially Inhomogeneous Heat-Sensitive Hollow Sphere

Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2017
We determine the thermal stressed state of a heat-sensitive radially inhomogeneous hollow sphere for given constant loads acting on its surfaces and a known temperature field inside the sphere. The corresponding problem of thermoelasticity in stresses is reduced to the solution of the Fredholm integral equation of the second kind for the radial ...

Radial and Tangential Stresses in Impregnated Paper Insulation

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1951
OWING to the complex dielectric structure of the insulation of a cable, few, if any, attempts have been made to evaluate the stresses in the oil channels in terms of the dimensions of the complete cable and the basic dielectric properties of the insulating materials.

Stresses in a radially constructed rotating cylinder

Journal of the Franklin Institute, 1975
Abstract The dynamic radial stress distribution in a circular hollow cylinder, bonded to a rigid core at its inner surface and prevented from outward displacement by a smooth rigid cylindrical wall, due to a rotational motion with a variable angular velocity, is analyzed. The stress as a function of radial distance and time is determined.

Residual Stresses in Radial and Indentation Forging of Tubes

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2005
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Radial forging and indentation forging processes are two processes used for sizing and/or internal profiling of tubes. In this paper, the two processes are simulated using finite element method and their results are compared with Experimental results.

Contact stresses in toroids under radial loads

British Journal of Applied Physics, 1957
The investigation was restricted to the measurement and calculation of shear stresses only, since these are considered the most important. The stresses were determined using the frozen stress photoelastic technique. A large range of toroids, with positive, zero and negative surface curvatures was tested.

Stresses in GRP Cylinders with Radial Line Load

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1975
A computer program based on the theory of thin shells of revolution was used to map axial bending moment and stress, cross-wall shear stress, and circumferential stress along the length of a 6-in. diam cylinder subjected to a radial line load. There were no significant differences between the experimental and the analytical results.

Computation of centrifugal stresses in a radial-flow impeller

Computers & Structures, 1991
Abstract A procedure of computing centrifugal stresses induced in axisymmetric impeller having disc of variable thickness, to which blades are laterally attached, is presented. Numerical solution of the stress equations satisfying equilibrium and compatibility conditions has been obtained.

Stress Analysis of a Radial-Flow Rotor

Journal of Engineering for Power, 1962
A radial-flow rotor consisting of a disk and exactly radial blades experiences normal stresses in radial and circumferential direction and shear stresses by virtue of centrifugal forces and the torque, respectively. The following investigation is restricted to the analysis of the effect of the centrifugal forces, primarily because this is the ...
