Stress analysis of ellipsoidal shell with radial nozzle
International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 1985Abstract The thin shell equations of equilibrium in Love-Meissner form for an internally pressurized ellipsoidal vessel head with intersecting radial nozzle (flush or protruding) are solved numerically to obtain the stress distribution in both the ellipsoidal head and the nozzle. The results are presented graphically using appropriate non-dimensional

Radial Stresses in Curved Glulam Beams
Journal of the Structural Division, 1980A method for estimating the maximum radial tension and compression stresses in curved glulam beams of rectangular cross section is presented. The recommended precedure is based on a parametric study of beams representing a broad range of the key geometric variables and subject to pure bending and uniformly distributed loading.

Stress changes of the distal radial growth plate
The American Journal of Sports Medicine, 1992We conducted a radiographic survey to determine skel etal age and the nature and prevalence of stress-related changes affecting the distal radial growth plate in 60 young competitive gymnasts (39 females, 21 males). Comparison of results for chronological and skeletal age revealed a significant delay in maturation for girls (P < 0.001 ...

Remodeling of the Radial Artery in Response to a Chronic Increase in Shear Stress
Hypertension, 1996Abstract Chronic changes in large artery blood flow rates induce corresponding adjustments in arterial diameter, but little is known about structural adaptations of the vessel wall in humans. We used a high-resolution echo-tracking system to measure radial artery internal diameter, wall thickness, and mean blood flow on both ...

Radial stressing of thin sheets with plastic anisotropy
International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1986The effect of transverse plastic orthotropy in uniform radial stressing at a circular hole, embedded in an infinite sheet, is studied. Material behaviour is modelled by a particular version of the anisotropic flow rule proposed by \textit{R. Hill} [Math. Proc. Cambridge Philos. Soc.

In dense-phase pneumatic conveying, particles are transported along a pipeline at relatively low conveying speeds. Due to the relatively gentle handling characteristics of this mode of flow, it is suitable for conveying fragile and brittle bulk materials used in the food and chemical industries.

The Stresses in a Flat Curved Bar Due to Concentrated Radial Loads
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1952Abstract This paper presents a Fourier integral solution for the plane-stress problem of a curved bar bounded by two concentric circles and loaded by any combination of radial loads on the circular boundaries. It is an extension of an earlier investigation (1) which dealt with only the particular case of a curved bar in equilibrium under

Spinodal decomposition in a small radially stressed sphere
Acta Materialia, 2001Abstract The conditions for thermodynamic equilibrium are derived for a binary alloy configured as a small sphere with radially symmetric composition and elastic fields. These conditions are used to test the stability of a homogeneous alloy against composition fluctuations and to write dynamical equations for microstructural evolution.

Stresses and Strains of Radially Reinforced Hollow Cylinders
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1987A radially reinforced hollow cylinder subjected to a combined action of axial pressure and radial pressures at both inside and outside radii is considered. These radial pressures are induced by hoop rebars. Due to uniform cross-sectional area of radial rebars, the reinforcement ratio is inversely propertional to the radius, and the cylinder is radially
