Effects of normal viscous stresses on radial viscous fingering [PDF]
We revisit the radial viscous fingering problem in a Hele-Shaw cell, and consider the action of viscous stresses originated from velocity gradients normal to the fluid-fluid interface. The evolution of the interface during linear and weakly nonlinear stages is described analytically through a mode-coupling approach.

Non-Oberbeck-Boussinesq zonal flow generation [PDF]
Novel mechanisms for zonal flow (ZF) generation for both large relative density fluctuations and background density gradients are presented. In this non-Oberbeck-Boussinesq (NOB) regime ZFs are driven by the Favre stress, the large fluctuation extension ...

Up-pulling force analysis for ESC hollow cylindrical casting [PDF]
Electroslag casting (ESC) is an important method to produce high quality castings. In this study, the ESC up-pulling inner mold method (EUPIM) was used to produce hollow cylindrical castings with the multiple consumable electrodes. The radial deformation,

Hadamard Renormalisation of the Stress Energy Tensor on the Horizons of a Spherically Symmetric Black Hole Space-Time [PDF]
We consider a quantum field which is in a Hartle-Hawking state propagating in a general spherically symmetric black hole space-time. We make use of uniform approximations to the radial equation to calculate the components of the stress tensor ...

Calculation and analysis of ampacity and stress of overhead transmission line
To ensure the safe operation of a transmission line, it is necessary to study the radial temperature rise and the stress and strain distribution of the transmission line under on-load state.

Spontaneous curvature cancellation in forced thin sheets
In this paper we report numerically observed spontaneous vanishing of mean curvature on a developable cone made by pushing a thin elastic sheet into a circular container.

The influence of anisotropic growth and geometry on the stress of solid tumors [PDF]
Solid stresses can affect tumor patho-physiology in at least two ways: directly, by compressing cancer and stromal cells, and indirectly, by deforming blood and lymphatic vessels.

Radial solitons in armchair carbon nanotubes
Radial solitons are investigated in armchair carbon nanotubes using a generalized Lennard-Jones potential. The radial solitons are found in terms of moving kink defects whose velocity obeys a dispersion relation.

Numerical Simulation on Radial Well Deflagration Fracturing Based on Phase Field Method
A radial well has a unique wellbore configuration. Fracture propagation in radial well deflagration fracturing is studied rarely. The mechanism of interaction between deflagration fractures, natural fractures, and micro-fractures is still unknown.
