Diffraction polarization optical elements with radial symmetry

Optics and Spectroscopy, 2011
Diffraction polarization optics elements with radial symmetry are considered by an example of corner cube reflectors. Diffraction patterns in the far zone of the radiation that is reflected from the angle reflectors with different coatings of their faces are studied.

Baroclinic solitary waves with radial symmetry

Dynamics of Atmospheres and Oceans, 1979
Abstract A model for the structure and motion of baroclinic solitary waves in the atmosphere or ocean is presented. Like gravity wave solitons, these planetary wave solutions are both weakly nonlinear and weakly dispersive. The dispersion effects, induced by β, are small because the scale of the wave is large compared to the deformation radius.

Application of Radial Symmetry for Caldera Detection

2008 Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications, 2008
For geoscientific applications, automatic shape-based feature detection offers a fast and non-subjective means of identifying geological structures within data. Most previously published examples of circular feature detection for geoscientific applications aimed to identify impact craters from optical or topographic data.

On Beam-like Functions with Radial Symmetry

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
In this work, we introduce a complete orthonormal (CON) set of functions as the eigenfanctions of a fourth-order boundary problem with radial symmetry. We derive the relation for the spectrum of the problem and solve it numerically. For larger indices n of the eigenvalues we derive accurate asymptotic representations valid within o{n^^).

Radiative Transfer in Spherical Shell Atmospheres with Radial Symmetry

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1971
In recent years, the need to allow for the effect of curvature on the formation of spectral lines has been recognized not only in the fields of planetary and stellar atmospheric physics but also in the field of neutron transport in spherical reactors. This paper is of interest in these and related fields.

Centers of Approximate Spherical Symmetry and Radial Symmetry Graphs

2013
In this paper we propose the possible use of a new type of salient points we call CASS (Centers of Approximate Spherical Symmetry) that are extracted from the Multiscale Area Projection transform described in [GL12]. In particular, we show that it is possible to build graphs joining these points following maximal values of the MAPT (Radial Symmetry ...

Radial symmetry and applications for a problem involving the $-\Delta_p(\cdot)$ operator and critical nonlinearity in~$\mathbb{R}^N$

, 2014
We consider weak nonnegative solutions to the critical p-Laplace equation in R N − Δ p u = u p ⁎ − 1 , in the singular case 1 p 2 . We prove that if p ⁎ ⩾ 2 then all the solutions in D 1 , p ( R N ) are radial (and radially decreasing) about some point.

Radial symmetry of positive solutions to equations involving the fractional laplacian

, 2013
The aim of this paper is to study radial symmetry and monotonicity properties for positive solution of elliptic equations involving the fractional Laplacian. We first consider the semi-linear Dirichlet problem where (-Δ)α denotes the fractional Laplacian,

Chemical Interfacial Reaction Models with Radial Symmetry

1992
This article discusses a sort of parabolic-elliptic system with nonlinear boundary conditions, which comes from the chemical interfacial models. The results obtained here are the uniqueness and the existence of the global solutions.
