Application of Radial Symmetry for Caldera Detection
2008 Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications, 2008For geoscientific applications, automatic shape-based feature detection offers a fast and non-subjective means of identifying geological structures within data. Most previously published examples of circular feature detection for geoscientific applications aimed to identify impact craters from optical or topographic data.

Radial Symmetry for Weak Positive Solutions of Fractional Laplacian with a Singular Nonlinearity
This paper is concerned with the radial symmetry weak positive solutions for a class of singular fractional Laplacian. The main results in the paper demonstrate the existence and multiplicity of radial symmetry weak positive solutions by Schwarz ...

Constrained radial symmetry for monotone elliptic quasilinear operators
Some overdetermined problems associated to monotone elliptic quasilinear operators are investigated. A model operator is the p-Laplacian. Assuming that a solution exists, the domain of the problem is shown to be a ball centered at the origin, or an ...

Spatial correlation functions of paracrystals with radial symmetry
Physical Review E, 2020We develop a phenomenological model to describe the structure of radially symmetric paracrystals whose long-range order are destroyed by propagation of particle fluctuations. General expressions are derived for the spatial correlation functions in one-, two-, and three-dimensional spaces.

Perceptual organization of radial symmetries
Proceedings of the 2004 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2004. CVPR 2004., 2004Radial symmetry is an important perceptual cue for the feature-based representation, fixation, and description of large-scale data sets. A new approach based on iterative voting along the gradient direction is introduced for inferring the center of mass for objects demonstrating radial symmetries that are not limited to convex geometries.

DYNAMICS OF NONHOLOMORPHIC SINGULAR CONTINUATIONS: A CASE IN RADIAL SYMMETRY
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2013This paper is primarily a study of special families of rational maps of the real plane of the form: [Formula: see text] where the dynamic variable z ∈ ℂ, and ℂ is identified with ℝ2. The parameter β is complex; n is a positive integer. For β small, this family can be considered a nonholomorphic singular perturbation of the holomorphic family z ↦ zn ...

On Beam-like Functions with Radial Symmetry
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008In this work, we introduce a complete orthonormal (CON) set of functions as the eigenfanctions of a fourth-order boundary problem with radial symmetry. We derive the relation for the spectrum of the problem and solve it numerically. For larger indices n of the eigenvalues we derive accurate asymptotic representations valid within o{n^^).

Baroclinic solitary waves with radial symmetry
Dynamics of Atmospheres and Oceans, 1979Abstract A model for the structure and motion of baroclinic solitary waves in the atmosphere or ocean is presented. Like gravity wave solitons, these planetary wave solutions are both weakly nonlinear and weakly dispersive. The dispersion effects, induced by β, are small because the scale of the wave is large compared to the deformation radius.
