Centers of Approximate Spherical Symmetry and Radial Symmetry Graphs.

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we propose the possible use of a new type of salient points we call CASS (Centers of Approximate Spherical Symmetry) that are extracted from the Multiscale Area Projection transform described in [GL12]. In particular, we show that it is possible to build graphs joining these points following maximal values of the MAPT (Radial Symmetry ...

The use of radial symmetry to localize retinal landmarks

Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics, 2013
Locating the optic disc center and the fovea in digital fundus images is surprisingly difficult due to the variation range in color and contrast and the possible presence of pathologies creating bright spots or changing the appearance of retinal landmarks.

Microellipsometer with radial symmetry

Applied Optics, 2002
We report on a novel microellipsometer that uses a spatially filtered high-numerical-aperture (NA) lens for large-angle ellipsometric illumination and high spatial resolution. A radially symmetric ellipsometric signal is achieved with two half-wave plates to produce a pure polarization rotation and a birefringent cube as a radial analyzer.
