Semi-Automated Detection of Cerebral Microbleeds on 3.0 T MR Images. [PDF]
Cerebral microbleeds are associated with vascular disease and dementia. They can be detected on MRI and receive increasing attention. Visual rating is the current standard for microbleed detection, but is rater dependent, has limited reproducibility ...

Introduction: Periodic organ arrangements occur during growth and development and are widespread in animals and plants. In bilaterian animals, repetitive organs can be interpreted as being periodically arranged along the two-dimensional space and defined

Patterns of Symmetry Expression in Angiosperms: Developmental and Evolutionary Lability
Variation in flower symmetry is a remarkable aspect of flowering plant diversity. Multiple evolutionary transitions from an ancestral form of radial symmetry to bilateral symmetry and reversals from bilateral to radial symmetry have occurred during ...

Symmetries of Trautman retarded radial coordinates [PDF]
Abstract We consider spacetime described by an observer that uses a Trautman retarded radial coordinate system. Given a metric tensor, we find all the local symmetries of the coordinates. They set a 10D family that can be parametrized by Poincaré algebra.

Symmetries on manifolds: generalizations of the radial lemma of Strauss [PDF]
For a compact subgroup $G$ of the group of isometries acting on a Riemannian manifold $M$ we investigate subspaces of Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin type which are invariant with respect to the group action. Our main aim is to extend the classical Strauss lemma under suitable assumptions on the Riemannian manifold by proving that $G$-invariance of ...

About Frequency Characteristics of Electric Fields of Cylindrical Piezoceramic Antenna with Screen in the Form of an Open Ring Layer [PDF]
According to rigorous method of “related” fields the analytical expressions to describe electric fields of cylindrical piezoceramic radiators, forming flat echolocation system was obtained. As a result of numerical analysis the quantity relations and the

Floral symmetry affects bumblebee approach consistency in artificial flowers
Bilateral symmetry has evolved from radial symmetry in several floral lineages, and multiple hypotheses have been proposed to account for the success of this floral plan.

An investigation of partial radial distribution functions and atomic pair potentials within a system has established that the existing potential functions are rooted in the assumption of a static arrangement of atoms, overlooking their distribution and ...

On tests for symmetry and radial symmetry of bivariate copulas towards testing for ellipticity [PDF]
AbstractVery simple non-parametric tests are proposed to detect symmetry and radial symmetry in the dependence structure of bivariate copula data. The performance of the proposed tests is illustrated in an intensive simulation study and compared to the one of similar more advanced tests, which do not require known margins.

The influence of the properties of the profile of a radial static electric field E(r) on the evolution of an unstable ion temperature–gradient (ITG) drift wave in a nonuniformly rotating plasma column in a magnetic field is studied.
