Consequences of spectrograph illumination for the accuracy of radial-velocimetry

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2011
For fiber-fed spectrographs with a stable external wavelength source, scrambling properties of optical fibers and, homogeneity and stability of the instrument illumination are important for the accuracy of radial-velocimetry. Optical cylindric fibers are

Radial variation of functions in Besov spaces [PDF]

open access: yesPublicacions Matemàtiques, 2006
This paper considers the radial variation function F(r, t) of an analytic function f(z) on the disc D. We examine F(r, t) when f belongs to a Besov space As pq and look for ways in which F imitates the behaviour of f. Regarded as a function of position (r, t) in D, we show that F obeys a certain integral growth condition which is the real variable ...

Dark matter density profiles from the Jeans equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We make a simple analytical study of radial profiles of dark matter structures, with special attention to the question of the central radial density profile.

Radial Velocity Variations from Starspots [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1999
AbstractIn this contribution the radial velocity (RV) variations expected for starspots on solar-type stars are examined. The spot-induced RV amplitude is found to vary linearly with spot filling factor and is less than 1 m−1 for spot sizes comparable to large sunspots and as high as 20 m s−1 for spot filling factors of 1%.

Radial Velocity Variations in 69 Orionis [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1982
69 Ori (B5 V) was discovered as a Be star in 1976 (Doazan et al., 1977). We observed this object at the Merate Observatory during the periods Nov. 77. - Jan. 78 - Jan. 78 and Oct. 78 - Feb. 79 obtaining 20 red spectrograms and 25 blue ones with a dispersion of 35 Å/mm.

Variação radial da retratibilidade e densidade básica da madeira de Eucalyptus saligna Sm. Radial variation of shrinkage and specific gravity in Eucalyptus saligna Sm. wood

Radial gradient of the solar rotation rate in the near-surface shear layer of the Sun

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2022
We study the radial gradient of the solar rotation rate in the near-surface shear layer (NSSL) from about .950 R⊙ to the solar surface and its variation during Solar Cycles 23 and 24 with ring-diagram analysis applied to Global Oscillation Network Group (

Chemical gradients in the Milky Way from the RAVE data. II. Giant stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We provide new constraints on the chemo-dynamical models of the Milky Way by measuring the radial and vertical chemical gradients for the elements Mg, Al, Si, Ti, and Fe in the Galactic disc and the gradient variations as a function of the distance from ...

Radial forearm free flap variation: A case report

open access: yesAdvances in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2022
Oral cavity malignancies comprise 6–8% of all malignancies. Tumour resection and reconstruction of the defect offers the best surgical outcome. Advances in microvascular surgery has allowed increased use of free flaps as part of surgical reconstruction ...

Radial Growth of Qilian Juniper on the Northeast Tibetan Plateau and Potential Climate Associations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
There is controversy regarding the limiting climatic factor for tree radial growth at the alpine treeline on the northeastern Tibetan Plateau. In this study, we collected 594 increment cores from 331 trees, grouped within four altitude belts spanning the
