The Pressure of Radiation [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1913
WITH reference to my letter on this subject in NATURE of December 18, the majority of my correspondents complain that, although I may have indicated the possibility of my own view, I have not shown why the simpler relation, that the pressure is always one-third of the energy density, is untenable. As I cannot reply to each individually, I shall be glad

Association of high‐dose radioactive iodine therapy with PPM1D‐mutated clonal hematopoiesis in older individuals

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In thyroid cancer patients, high‐dose (≥7.4 GBq) radioactive iodine therapy (RAIT) was associated with a higher prevalence of clonal hematopoiesis (variant allele frequency >2%) in individuals aged ≥50 years (OR = 2.44). In silico analyses showed that truncating PPM1D mutations conferred a selective advantage under these conditions.

Integrable Models of Interaction of Matter with Radiation

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2006
The simplified models of interaction of charged matter with resonance modes of radiation generalizing the well-known Jaynes-Cummings and Dicke models are considered. It is found that these new models are integrable for arbitrary numbers of dipole sources

Mossbauer spectrometer radiation detector [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
A Mossbauer spectrometer with high efficiencies in both transmission and backscattering techniques is described. The device contains a sodium iodide crystal for detecting radiation caused by the Mossbauer effect, and two photomultipliers to collect the ...

Raphin‐1 mediates the survival and sensitivity to radiation of pediatric‐type diffuse high‐grade glioma via phosphorylated eukaryotic initiation factor 2α‐dependent and ‐independent processes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Raphin‐1 reduces the survival of PED‐DHGG cells and enhances their radiation sensitivity through both PeIF2α‐dependent and PeIF2α‐independent mechanisms. Raphin‐1 sustains elevated levels of PeIF2α, contributing to its PeIF2α‐dependent effects. Additionally, raphin‐1 interacts with CReP to mediate a separate radiosensitizing pathway that operates ...

Analysis of Radiation Dose around Some Base Stations in Ota and Lagos Environ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The aim of this work is to investigate radiation dose around some GSM base stations within Ota and Lagos metropolis in Nigeria. This was done using a radiation alert monitor (M4EC) manufactured by S.E. International, Inc., USA.

Radiation physics, biophysics, and radiation biology [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
The following research programs from the Center for Radiological Research of Columbia University are described: Design and development of a new wall-less ultra miniature proportional counter for nanodosimetry; some recent measurements of ionization distributions for heavy ions at nanometer site sizes with a wall-less proportional counter; a calculation

Comprehensive profiling of lncRNAs and mRNAs enriched in small extracellular vesicles for early noninvasive detection of colorectal cancer: diagnostic panel assembly and extensive validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Small extracellular vesicles are a promising source of diagnostic molecules. We conducted a comprehensive study, including transcriptome profiling and RT‐qPCR validation on large cohorts of samples. Diagnostic panels enabling sensitive detection of colorectal cancer and precancerous lesions were established. Some molecules were differentially expressed

Comparative study of microwave radiation-induced magnetoresistive oscillations induced by circularly- and linearly- polarized photo-excitation

open access: yes, 2015
A comparative study of the radiation-induced magnetoresistance oscillations in the high mobility GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure two dimensional electron system (2DES) under linearly- and circularlypolarized microwave excitation indicates a profound ...
