E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Numerical Simulations of Turbulent Molecular Clouds Regulated by Radiation Feedback Forces II: Radiation-Gas Interactions and Outflows

open access: yes, 2016
Momentum deposition by radiation pressure from young, massive stars may help to destroy molecular clouds and unbind stellar clusters by driving large-scale outflows. We extend our previous numerical radiation hydrodynamic study of turbulent, star-forming

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Isocurvature perturbations in extra radiation

open access: yes, 2012
Recent cosmological observations, including measurements of the CMB anisotropy and the primordial helium abundance, indicate the existence of an extra radiation component in the Universe beyond the standard three neutrino species.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Analysis of Radiation Dose around Some Base Stations in Ota and Lagos Environ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The aim of this work is to investigate radiation dose around some GSM base stations within Ota and Lagos metropolis in Nigeria. This was done using a radiation alert monitor (M4EC) manufactured by S.E. International, Inc., USA.

Classical Physics of Thermal Scalar Radiation in Two Spacetime Dimensions

open access: yes, 2010
Thermal scalar radiation in two spacetime dimensions is treated within relativistic classical physics. Part I involves an inertial frame where are given the analogues both of Boltzmann's derivation of the Stefan-Boltzmann law and also Wien's derivation ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

The radiative effects of water vapour from terrestrial evapotranspiration

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Water vapour accounts for roughly 50% of the modern greenhouse effect. Over continental regions, evapotranspiration (ET) is often limited by water availability.

Coherent radiation of atoms and a channeling particle

open access: yes, 2012
New mechanism of radiation emitted at channeling of a relativistic particle in a crystal is studied. Superposition of coherent radiation of the atoms in a crystal lattice which are excited by a channeling particle and radiation of the channeling particle
