Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Aberrant expression of nuclear prothymosin α contributes to epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nuclear prothymosin α inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung cancer by increasing Smad7 acetylation and competing with Smad2 for binding to SNAI1, TWIST1, and ZEB1 promoters. In early‐stage cancer, ProT suppresses TGF‐β‐induced EMT, while its loss in the nucleus in late‐stage cancer leads to enhanced EMT and poor prognosis.

The Radiation of the Stars [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1917
I AM in general agreement with Mr. Jeans's remarks on the difficulty of obtaining a source of stellar energy more powerful than the Helmholtz contraction. It may be added that there is a conceivable source, which was, I believe, once suggested by Mr. Jeans himself, viz.

Radiating and non-radiating sources in elasticity [PDF]

open access: yesInverse Problems, 2018
In this work, we study the inverse source problem of a fixed frequency for the Navier's equation. We investigate that nonradiating external forces. If the support of such a force has a convex or non-convex corner or edge on their boundary, the force must be vanishing there.

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

The Development of a Nomogram to Predict Post-Radiation Necrosis in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Patients: A Large-Scale Cohort Study [Corrigendum]

open access: yesCancer Management and Research, 2020
Li X-Y, Sun X-S, Liu S-L, et al. Cancer Manag Res. 2019;11:6253–6263.In Table 2, the authors identified the risk factors of nasopharyngeal necrosis using a logistic regression model, andthe final nomogram model was constructed based on these ...

Radiation and pregnancy [PDF]

open access: yesObstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 1973
Irradiation during pregnancy may occur either as the result of radioactive pollution of the environment, or during a medical procedure using x-rays or radionuclides. While the former is usually unforeseeable, the latter is known and accepted by both physician and patient.Recent statistics estimate that about one quarter of pregnant women have had a ...

TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.

Molecular imaging predicts trastuzumab‐deruxtecan (T‐DXd) response in head and neck cancer xenograft models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Trastuzumab‐deruxtecan, a HER2‐targeting antibody‐drug conjugate, shows promising antitumor activity in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma with low HER2 expression. In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated dose‐dependent cell death and tumor growth reduction in low HER2‐expressing cell lines, which correlated with drug accumulation measured using a
