Assessment of Different Training Methods in an Artificial Neural Network to Calculate 2D Dose Distribution in Radiotherapy [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Medical Physics, 2020
Introduction: Treatment planning is the most important part of treatment. One of the important entries into treatment planning systems is the beam dose distribution data which maybe typically measured or calculated in a long time.

An epidemiological assessment of lens opacifications that impaired vision in patients injected with radium-224 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The incidence of lens opacifications that impaired vision (cataract) was analyzed among 831 patients who were injected with known dosages of 224Ra in Germany shortly after World War II.

The radiation protection role of heparin-SOD conjugate in irradiated mice

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2018
Heparin-SOD conjugate (Hep-SOD) was prepared by modifying Cu,Zn-SOD with heparin. An acute radiation-induced mouse injury model was constructed to study the radiation protection effects of Hep-SOD conjugate.

Radiation-hard ASICs for optical data transmission in the ATLAS pixel detector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We have developed two radiation-hard ASICs for optical data transmission in the ATLAS pixel detector at the LHC at CERN: a driver chip for a Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) diode for 80 Mbit/s data transmission from the detector, and a Bi ...

UV Degradation of the Optical Properties of Acrylic for Neutrino and Dark Matter Experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
UV-transmitting (UVT) acrylic is a commonly used light-propagating material in neutrino and dark matter detectors as it has low intrinsic radioactivity and exhibits low absorption in the detectors' light producing regions, from 350 nm to 500 nm ...

Autophagy in cancer and protein conformational disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Autophagy plays a crucial role in numerous biological processes, including protein and organelle quality control, development, immunity, and metabolism. Hence, dysregulation or mutations in autophagy‐related genes have been implicated in a wide range of human diseases.

Microwave dosimeter - A concept [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Dosimeter determines time-integrated radiation dosage to which an individual is exposed. Integration is measured chemically in proportion to radiation detected.

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.
