MIDSX: A Monte Carlo Interaction and Dosimetry Simulation of X-rays [PDF]
Computed Tomography (CT) imaging, while essential for diagnostics, exposes patients to ionizing radiation. To accurately quantify radiation dosage, this study introduces MIDSX, a specialized open-source Monte Carlo (MC) photon transport code system for medical imaging.

Establishment of Diagnostic Reference Levels for Computed Tomography Scanning in Hamadan [PDF]
Background: New advancements have increased the capabilities of computed tomography as a sectional medical imaging modality. An important note is assessing absorbed dose to patients and minimizing it when performing computed tomography examinations.

Radiation tolerance of opto-electronic components proposed for space-based quantum key distribution [PDF]
Plasma in low earth orbit can damage electronic components and potentially jeopardise the scientific missions in space. Predicting the accumulated damage and understanding the components' radiation tolerance are important to mission planning. In this manuscript we report on the observed radiation tolerance of single photon detectors and a liquid ...

Predicting Dosage of Immunosuppressant Drugs After Kidney Transplantation Using Machine Learning [PDF]
While kidney transplants are seen as the best treatment option for patients with end-stage renal disease and kidney failure, the organ's health depends on the dosage of immunosuppressant drugs post-transplantation. Due to the dosage variance based on each patient's unique physiology, nephrologists face numerous difficulties when determining the precise

EUV induced defects on few-layer graphene [PDF]
We use Raman spectroscopy to show that exposing few-layer graphene to extreme ultraviolet (EUV, 13.5 nm) radiation, i.e. relatively low photon energy, results in an increasing density of defects. Furthermore, exposure to EUV radiation in a H2 background increases the graphene dosage sensitivity, due to reactions caused by the EUV induced hydrogen ...

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.
