Embrittlement of Molybdenum by Neutron Radiation
Commercially pure molybdenum specimens were irradiated in the Materials Testing Reactor for an estimated exposure of 1.9 to 5.9×1020 thermal nvt. Prior to irradiation, the material was ductile in the tension test; whereas after irradiation, it was brittle.

Limited field radiation therapy results in decreased bone fracture toughness in a murine model. [PDF]
Fragility fractures are a well-known complication following oncologic radiotherapy, and it is suspected that radiation-induced embrittlement of bone within the treatment field may contribute to fracture risk.

Method for the Calculation of DPA in the Reactor Pressure Vessel of Atucha II
One of the limiting factors of the life of a nuclear power plant (NPP) is the state of the reactor pressure vessel (RPV). Embrittlement is the most important effect affecting RPV aging.

Comparison of Маster curve with normative method of estimating WWER-1000 reactor pressure vessel metal fracture toughness [PDF]
The paper considers the generalized temperature dependence of the stress intensity factor KJC in the WWER-1000 reactor pressure vessel metal, which was derived based on the surveillance test data for fracture toughness.

Proton irradiation-decelerated intergranular corrosion of Ni-Cr alloys in molten salt
The effects of ionizing radiation on materials often reduce to “bad news”. Radiation damage usually leads to detrimental effects such as embrittlement, accelerated creep, phase instability, and radiation-altered corrosion.

Radiation annealing of radiation embrittlement of the reactor pressure vessel steel
Influence of neutron irradiation on RPV steel degradation are examined with reference to the possible reasons of the substantial experimental data scatter and furthermore - nonstandard (non-monotonous) and oscillatory embrittlement behavior. In our glance this phenomenon may be explained by presence of the wavelike component in the embrittlement ...

Low-temperature radiation embrittlement of copper alloys [PDF]
The effect of low-temperature (T{sub irr} less than 0.3. T{sub melt}) irradiation on the tensile properties of copper and precipitation-hardened (PH) and dispersion-strengthened (DS) copper alloys was investigated. Samples were irradiated with fission neutrons at temperatures of 80 to 200{degrees}C to doses of 0.6 to 5 dpa. Irradiation at temperatures

Different approaches to estimation of reactor pressure vessel material embrittlement [PDF]
The surveillance test data for the nuclear power plant which is under operation in Ukraine have been used to estimate WWER-1000 reactor pressure vessel (RPV) material embrittlement.
