A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

In-cylinder radiation heat transfer in a small direct injection diesel engine [PDF]
Diesel engine downsizing is of current interest because of the infinite nature of crude oil reserves and the high efficiency of the diesel cycle. Scaling and downsizing studies can make substantial contributions to the optimization of small diesel engine

Convective-radiation boundary impact on heat transfer in buoyant viscous layers
Convective–radiation boundary conditions are essential in fluid flow analysis, as they capture the combined effects of convection and radiation on heat transfer and system thermal behaviour, with applications in thermal processing, solar energy systems ...

A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Dense suspension of solid particles as a new heat transfer fluid for concentrated solar thermal plants: on-sun proof of concept [PDF]
This paper demonstrates the capacity of dense suspensions of solid particles to transfer concentrated solar power from a tubular receiver to an energy conversion process by acting as a heat transfer fluid.

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

EFFECT OF DIFFERENT HEAT EXCHANGERS ON THE WASTE-HEAT DRIVEN THERMOACOUSTIC ENGINE [PDF]
To enhance the efficiency of the SCORE thermoacoustic engine, it is important to investigate the heat transfer between the bulge or theconvolution and the regenerator.

Role of Internal Radiation in Oxide Crystal Growth by Heat Exchanger Method
Internal radiation was investigated using the finite volume method for the heat exchanger method (HEM) growth of oxide crystals. Special attention was devoted to the temperature and thermal stress distributions in the bottom region of the grown crystal ...

The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.
