X-band coaxial monopole antenna with an additional metal screen

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2023
The novel coaxial monopole antenna design with an additional metal screen is presented. The radiation char- acteristics of this antenna are investigated depending on a dis- tance between the ground plane and additional metal screens, as well as on a ...

Time Toxicity in Wilms Tumor: Quantifying the Burden of Healthcare Interaction in the First Year After Diagnosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Wilms tumor (WT) treatment imposes a significant time burden on patients and their families. Time toxicity is a patient‐centered metric that quantifies the burden of healthcare interaction. We sought to define time toxicity in the first year after diagnosis of WT and hypothesized that it would increase as tumor stage and treatment ...

Effect of Locally Flat Distortions in the Radiating Aperture on the Radiation Pattern of a Phased Antenna Array

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений России: Радиоэлектроника, 2023
Introduction. Phased antenna arrays (PAA) of large geometric dimensions find wide application in various spacecraft systems. The PAA design assumes the deployment of its sections in outer space to form a plane of the radiating aperture.

The Role of Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation in Ataxia‐Telangiectasia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ataxia‐telangiectasia (A‐T) is a DNA repair disorder characterized by neurodegeneration, immunodeficiency, and cancer predisposition. Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is an established therapy in related disorders such as Fanconi anemia (FA) and Nijmegen breakage syndrome (NBS), but its role in A‐T is unclear.

Metaphors as surrogate variables. The case of adaptive radiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We develop a new metaphor account where metaphors become surrogate variables for different but related phenomena. As we will argue, subrogation is the result of the interplay between the things inspired by the metaphor and the empirical dynamics that ...

Copper indium diselenide: crystallography and radiation-induced dislocation loops [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Copper indium diselenide (CIS) is a prime candidate as the absorber layer in solar cells for use in extraterrestrial environments due to its good photovoltaic efficiency and ability to resist radiation damage.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
