Radiation tolerance of the spinal cord [PDF]
A series of nine cases of radiation myelopathy seen at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is reviewed, and their treatment data converted into nominal single doses (NSD) and equivalent single doses (ED). The 1% incidence level of myelopathy in the thoracic cord is 1015 rets (ED), and the 50% incidence level is 1476rets (ED).

Investigating the phylogenetic history of toxin tolerance in mushroom‐feeding Drosophila
Understanding how and when key novel adaptations evolved is a central goal of evolutionary biology. Within the immigrans‐tripunctata radiation of Drosophila, many mushroom‐feeding species are tolerant of host toxins, such as cyclopeptides, that are ...

Radiation tolerance of several lithium greases
Using γ ray to irradiat six types of lithium grease, the color of these greases was observed to change, and the degree of change was found to be positively correlated with an increase in the absorbed dose.

Analysis of DNA repair and protection in the Tardigrade Ramazzottius varieornatus and Hypsibius dujardini after exposure to UVC radiation. [PDF]
Tardigrades inhabiting terrestrial environments exhibit extraordinary resistance to ionizing radiation and UV radiation although little is known about the mechanisms underlying the resistance.

Enhancement of radiosensitization by metal-based nanoparticles in cancer radiation therapy
Radiation therapy performs an important function in cancer treatment. However, resistance of tumor cells to radiation therapy still remains a serious concern, so the study of radiosensitizers has emerged as a persistent hotspot in radiation oncology ...
