Wheat traits and the associated loci conferring radiation use efficiency
SUMMARYWheat (Triticum aestivum L.) radiation use efficiency (RUE) must be raised through crop breeding to further increase the yield potential, as the harvest index is now close to its theoretical limit. Field experiments including 209 wheat cultivars which have been widely cultivated in China since the 1940s were conducted in two growing seasons ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Radiation Use Efficiency of Cotton in Contrasting Environments
Crop growth and yield varies among locations due to differences in environmental parameters, such as temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation and vapor pressure deficit. Previous research has shown that increasing vapor pressure deficit has a negative effect on radiation use efficiency of many crops.

A Simple Method to Estimate Photosynthetic Radiation Use Efficiency of Canopies [PDF]
Photosynthetic radiation use efficiency (PhRUE) over the course of a day has been shown to be constant for leaves throughout a general canopy where nitrogen content (and thus photosynthetic properties) of leaves is distributed in relation to the light gradient. It has been suggested that this daily PhRUE can be calculated simply from the photosynthetic

Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Water and radiation productivity in different cropping sequences in the north center of Santa Fe
Dry matter and grain productions depend on the ability of crops to capture resources. Productivity of resourses is defined based on the amount of grain or dry matter produced per unit of available resource (solar radiation or rainfall) during the ...

Radiation Use Efficiency of Ryegrass: Determination With Non Cumulative Data
The growth of a crop is generally described as biomass accumulation per unit time. Monteith (1977) developed a model of growth where biomass accumulation is related to solar radiation intercepted by the crop.

Willow growth in response to nutrients and moisture on a clay landfill cap soil. II: Water use [PDF]
This paper describes studies into the effects of soil factors and water stress on water use by willow (Salix viminalis L.) on a clay landfill cap soil and a sandy loam.
