ON SIMULATIONS OF RADIATIVE HEAT TRANSFER IN COMBUSTION APPLICATIONS

open access: yesProceedings of CHT-17 ICHMT International Symposium on Advances in Computational Heat Transfer May 28-June 1, 2017, Napoli, Italy, 2017
In the design of boiler furnaces and gas turbine combustors it is desirable to enable prediction of the radiative heat transfer with high accuracy so that the heat loads on the walls can be properly estimated. In such applications commonly participating media like various gases and particles, e.g., soot, need to be taken into account.

Optimised frequency grids for infrared radiative transfer simulations in cloudy conditions

open access: yesJournal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 2012
This paper shows that radiometer channel radiances for cloudy atmospheric conditions can be simulated with an optimised frequency grid derived under clear-sky conditions. A new clear-sky optimised grid is derived for AVHRR channel 5 ð12 m m, 833 cm 1 Þ.

A radiative heat transfer simulation on a SPARCStation farm

Proceedings of the First International Symposium on High-Performance Distributed Computing. (HPDC-1), 1993
AbstractAt the Supcrcomputing Research Center we have built a computing farm consisting of 16 SPARCStation. ELCs. The ELCs all support the Mother distributed shared memory, which has primitives to support efficient synchronization and use of the network and processors.

Application of machine learning to hyperspectral radiative transfer simulations

open access: yesJournal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 2020
Hyperspectral observations have become one of the most popular and powerful methods for atmospheric remote sensing, and are widely used for temperature, gas, aerosol, and cloud retrievals.

Numerical Simulation of Radiative Heat Transfer

47th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting including The New Horizons Forum and Aerospace Exposition, 2009
Radiative heat transfer is an important physical phenomenon especially in the high speed and high temperature flow regime making its application important in space exploration vehicles. This paper presents the development and validation of computational tools for modeling the radiative heat transfer with an aim that the developed numerical module can ...
