Simulated plants and radiative transfers simulations

1993
Radiative transfers modelling is restrained mainly by the difficulty of characterizing the canopy structure by in situ measurements. Yet this difficulty can presently be resolved by modelling and simulating the plant architecture. The modelling of the plant topology is based on a detailed analysis of their internode numbers and branching patterns ...

Radiative Heat Transfer Simulation Using Programmable Graphics Hardware

5th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Computer and Information Science and 1st IEEE/ACIS International Workshop on Component-Based Software Engineering,Software Architecture and Reuse (ICIS-COMSAR'06), 2006
To analyze physical behaviors of a thermal environment, we have to simulate several heat transfer phenomena such as heat conduction, convection, and radiation. Among those phenomena, radiative heat transfer simulation is much time-consuming. In this paper, therefore, one of acceleration techniques developed in the graphics community that exploits a ...

Algorithms for radiative transfer simulations for aerosol retrieval

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
Aerosol retrieval work from satellite data, i.e. aerosol remote sensing, is divided into three parts as: satellite data analysis, aerosol modeling and multiple light scattering calculation in the atmosphere model which is called radiative transfer simulation.

Backward Monte Carlo Simulations in Radiative Heat Transfer

Journal of Heat Transfer, 2003
Standard Monte Carlo methods trace photon bundles in a forward direction, and may become extremely inefficient when radiation onto a small spot and/or onto a small direction cone is desired. Backward tracing of photon bundles is known to alleviate this problem if the source of radiation is large, but may also fail if the radiation source is collimated ...

Radiative transfer model for simulating high-resolution satellite images

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2001
A simulator of high spatial resolution satellite images is introduced. It is based on the coupling of two radiative transfer models: discrete anisotropic radiative transfer (DART) for terrestrial landscapes and second simulation of the satellite signal in the solar spectrum (6S) for the atmosphere.

The Micro-Macro Model for Transient Radiative Transfer Simulations

Proceedings of the 15th International Heat Transfer Conference, 2014
The micro-macro model is investigated for transient radiative transfer simulations with the discrete-ordinate method. The model decomposes the radiative intensity into its macroscopic and its mesoscopic parts. A coupled system of two equations, one at the macroscopic and the other at the mesoscopic scale, is obtained and solved.

Modeling and Simulating Radiative Transfer in the Ocean

1994
The propagation of light in the sea is of interest in many areas of oceanography: light provides the energy that powers primary productivity in the ocean; light diffusely reflected by the ocean provides the signal for the remote sensing of subsurface constituent concentrations (particularly phytoplankton pigments); light absorbed by the water heats the
