From Dog Alterity to Canine Sublime: A Cross-Century Reading of Victorian Fiction

open access: yesCahiers Victoriens et Edouardiens, 2017
From Charles Dickens to Joseph Conrad dogs are omnipresent in Victorian novels. Many recent critical works have investigated the part they play, either within the confines of specific novels or against the enlarged context of Victorian culture. Reversing

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Merleau-Ponty, Correlationism, and Alterity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018

Masking the Systematic Violence Perpetuated By Liberalism Through the Concept of ‘Totalitarianism’

open access: yesPolitikon, 2016
Starting from the European conquest in 1492 which established the beginning of colonialism, going through the establishment of liberalism’s racial (‘social’) contract, and coming to present times of neocolonialism and neoliberalism, this paper ...

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

De la estetización de la política a la comunidad desobrada.

open access: yesRevista de Estudios Sociales, 2010
This article shows that the notion of an “aesthetization of politics” entails much more than the mere translation of aesthetic criteria into politics. The task of thinking about a non-aesthetiziced political realm, therefore, demands even more radical ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

La valeur des pauvres. Le pari sur l’argent comme médiateur du conflit social contemporain

open access: yesConfins, 2016
In contemporary Brazil, the urban periphery have two recent and dichotomous figurations: the cause of 'urban violence' that calls for more repression and the core of the 'development' which can turn poor people into "middle class". This essay argues that
