Behavioral Criteria of Radical Translation
Synthese, 1968For all its impressive merits, Word and Object seems to me a book whose two ends do not quite meet. The difference in approach between the early and the late parts of Word and Object is in fact quite striking. With some oversimplification, it can be said that the last few chapters of the book are dominated by the idea of canonical idiom of a well-known

Radical polymerization behavior of N‐vinylsaccharin
Journal of Polymer Science Part A: Polymer Chemistry, 1999Synthesis and radical polymerization behavior of N-vinylsaccharin (1) are described. Radical homopolymerization of 1 was carried out in the presence of a radical initiator for 24 h to afford the polymer containing a saccharin moiety in the side group, which was insoluble in common organic solvents.

Alternatives to radical behaviorism
Behavioral and Brain Sciences, 1995AbstractOperant psychologists are looking for alternatives to radical behaviorism. Rachlin offers teleological behaviorism, but it may pose as many difficulties as radical behaviorism. There is, however, a less drastic way to defend Rachlin's thesis of “order in the relationship between organisms and environment.” It portrays operant principles as ...

Radical behavioral help for Katrina
Cognitive and Behavioral Practice, 2000Our treatment plan for Katrina is guided by the principles of functional analytic psychotherapy (FAP; Kohlenberg & Tsai, 1991 ), an approach derived from radical behaviorism. The fundamental assumption is that we and our clients act the way we do because of the contingencies of reinforcement we have experienced in past relationships.

A Commentary on “Radical Behaviorism”
Philosophy of Science, 1963B. F. Skinner is perhaps even more widely known for his views on science than for his experimental work. His comments on the role of theory in science have been labeled “anti-theoretical,” “ultra-empirical”, “non-theoretical,” “radical,” and worse. His position appears to be both extreme and untenable.

Radical polymerization behavior of trimethoxyvinylsilane
Journal of Polymer Science Part A: Polymer Chemistry, 2005AbstractTrimethoxyvinylsilane (TMVS) was quantitatively polymerized at 130 °C in bulk, using dicumyl peroxide (DCPO) as initiator. The polymerization of TMVS with DCPO was kinetically studied in dioxane by Fourier transform near‐infrared spectroscopy. The overall activation energy of the bulk polymerization was estimated to be 112 kJ/mol.

I still like my own definition of ‘radical behaviorism’ better than any other I have seen yet: ‘radical behaviorism is the effect that Skinner’s thought happens to have on the behavior of people’ (Day, 1983, p. 101). What I really like about this definition is that it is behavioral: in essence it is a general, or shorthand, description of a particular ...

Radical Behaviorism and Consciousness
1989Readers interested in a psychology of consciousness might express disbelief at the suggestion that a leading behaviorist, B. F. Skinner, includes in his proper realm of inquiry feelings, thoughts, images, and consciousness. True, he does not consider these to be explanatory concepts, but rather legitimate events worthy of investigation.

Behavior-Behavior Analysis, Human Schedule Performance, and Radical Behaviorism
The Psychological Record, 1989Behavior-behavior analyses are concerned mainly with the prediction of behavior and are thereby insufficient for a complete functional analysis of environment-behavior interaction. Nevertheless, behavior-behavior analyses can remain within the conceptual framework of radical behaviorist epistemology if they are treated as a preliminary strategy for the

Willard Day (1987) writes that the earliest published use of the term radical behaviorism by Skinner appeared in the “Rejoinders and Second Thoughts” section of his 1945 paper, “The Operational Analysis of Psychological Terms.”
